Digital artist MEGATON from CES (Lenovo mobile monitor with potential Wacom pen)
Lenovo announces the ThinkVision LT1423p, a mobile touchscreen monitor with pen support (video)

$350/450 mobile Cintiq competitor potentially using Wacom's own Penabled pen digitizer (used in most W8 pen slates and Tablet PCs). I'm 99% sure this is Penabled. Lenovo has been using Penabled parts for years, and the 256 levels of pressure and 13.3" size makes this very likely (My Fujitsu T902 Tablet PC uses 13.3" IPS panel and 256 levels of pressure Wacom Penabled digitizer).
If this is indeed Wacom, I'm downright shocked that Wacom allowed this! Or maybe Lenovo said FU and didn't get their permission. Either way, this is a great news for digital artists!
This could also mean that Wacom's Cintiq 12WX replacement runs on batteries with similar size and resolution using Intuos 5 parts for around $1000. That could justify this move to let Penabled version by other ODMs.

Shogmaster, will you be at CES this week? I'd love confirmation it's using Wacom, also curious to see if their will be a T903 at CES. And a release date. I'd hate to see this disappear, never to be heard about again.

Here's another video on the display.
Lenovo ThinkVision mobile monitor hands-on: touching Windows 8 across the room - SlashGear
Oh take your pens. I get so irritated that the tech blogs don't think to ask what pen tech their using. I'd love to know if it can run without lagging in Photoshop or notes in OneNote.. Very excited. Wasn't expecting to see anything like this at CES.
Ok good to know about the T902/3. Think they will have any other new models out? Will you be hitting Fujitsu's booth? Lots of videos pls.
I always follow your CES videos since your interested in Wacom stuff like I am..Last edited by Synergi; 01-06-2013 at 08:06 PM.

Re: Digital artist MEGATON from CES (Lenovo mobile monitor with potential Wacom pen)
....wow...
At the $300-$400 price point......Forget their Cintiqs...this will make Wacoms Intuos and Bamboo tablets uterly obsolete. Who would buy a $400 Intuos when you could just buy this baby and work on-screen.
Even more so if they announce it as Mac Compatible and available at stores like Best Buy........but more so because of the Impulse buy price point....this can be a real game changer.
Now I'm kind of pissed because I just plunked down and bought a Cintiq 21ux a few weeks ago....I love its 21 inch screen size dearly...but if I knew something like this was coming down the pipeline....I would have definitly held off.
...I still just can't belieave that price point....you'd think something like this would at least break a grand or something.Lenovo X-61 Tablet - 1.6 ghz, 4 gb ram
Gateway C-120X - 1.06 ghz, 2 gb ram (dead)
Hp TC1100 - 1.1 ghz, 1.5 gb ram
Ls800 - 1.2 ghz, 2 gb ram
Eee PC T-91, 1.3 ghz, 2 gb ram
Ipad 16gb Wi-FI (it does count as a tablet)
HP Slate 500 - 1.86 ghz, 2 gb ram
Asus Ep121 - 1.33 ghz, 4gb ram
Samsung Series 7 Slate - 1.6 ghz, 4 gb of ram

That price point is amazing. I was all set for the Helix. And I may get it but this monitor has me rethinking that. The thought of using my gaming machine with that monitor, an its wireless so I can walk all around the house sounds amazing. Forget Cintiqs, who needs a Win 8 tablet for couch surfing with this?
All down to Shogmaster confirming that pen is Wacom though. But if it is.. wow..iPad, The New/Old iPad 3, 64GB Verizon.

Game changer is right. This would be amazing if it happened. I gotta admit, I'm skeptical it could happen. Why all the sudden would Wacom allow this with their tech? It would stomp all over their profits, and the irony would be it's their technology inside it!!
Fujitsu T902
-i7-3520M
-16 gigs of RAM
-512 gig SSD
-modular bay battery
-Wacom penabled dual digitizer 13.3" 1600x900
coupled with Wacom Cintiq 15x .... beautiful dual screen tablet action!!

Cintiq Killer! Holy Crap! I mean, you can have this lean, mean and cool beast on your lap on the couch, while your quad-Core killer i7 with bajillion GB of RAM sits in some dark corner in your home and you can paint away in Photoshop without a care in the world
!!! There does seem to be a much larger latency via wifi than if you were painting directly on a tablet PC, so there is that to consider for art, but the wired version will most definitely be much snappier!
I'm going to guess since Lenovo sources all their screen digitizer tech from Wacom, they probably have a wholesale contract for the license and digitizer, so they can make whatever product they want with it, and this happened to be one of them

To be fair, the Cintiqs still have better screen tech (this will most likely be the same junky TN panel in their X1 Carbon series, especially looking at the price...), more levels of pressure sensitivity (mostly a moot point, I know), tilt sensitivity (I'm personally not fond of this feature and always turn it off on my Intuos 3), and a whopping higher price tag by a mile :P!Toshiba Portage M200 | Pentium M 1.8Ghz (OC'd to 1.98Ghz) | 1.5GB RAM | 40GB HDD | WinXP:TE SP3 | nVidia GeForce Go FX 5200 32MB | SXGA+ (Broken screen
