This has been coming for a long time. Apple and Google once got along very well, but that is a thing of the past.

When Google Maps was integrated into the iOS way back in 2007 these two companies were the best of friends. Then Google launched the Android OS which made them bitter rivals. It's actually surprising that it took so long for this change to happen.
