Apple iPad 2 vs 'New' Apple iPad Discussion
The new Apple iPad is official, and as expected, the 9.7-inch tablet will feature a Retina Display with a 2048 x 1536 resolution, which equates to approximately 264 pixels per inch (PPI). Both the original iPad and iPad 2 had a PPI count of 132, while the most pixel-dense smartphones, including the iPhone 4S, have PPI counts in excess of 300.

Did anyone else have trouble pre-ordering it? I think the new retina display's going to be AWESOME!

It took a lot of effort but I was finally able to put in an order after an hour or so of the Apple website timing out over and over. The Apple Store was almost completely overwhelmed.

I'm guessing that same-day, world-wide launch caused the rush and subsequent crash. Now we'll see if Apple can handle the demand for devices and ship them out on time.
That said, I didn't preorder, and I don't think I'll be waiting in line for one. I'm sure the display looks incredible, but I am happy with my iPad 2, and it fits my current needs and usage patterns just fine.

Re: Apple iPad 2 vs 'New' Apple iPad Discussion
Interesting. I have a bunch of friends/family members wondering whether or not to pick up the iPad 2 because of the price drop, or drop at least $499 for the new iPad.
Apple is definitely sparking up interesting, and it looks as if they're going to lead the tablet market yet again.

I preordered, managing to snag a Wifi-only, 32GB unit in black about 60 minutes after the keynote ended, by continually refreshing the screen. For my eyes, lack of a pixel-effect will be worth it.
