HTC Flyer Review Discussion
(Editor's Note: As of 7/5/11, Best Buy is bundling the Scribe digital pen with the Flyer. It is not clear if this is a permanent change or limited time offer.)
HTC is certainly bringing something different into the tablet market with the Flyer. Instead of rolling out a Honeycomb tablet with the same specs as the Xoom and the rest of the newly released Android lineup, HTC instead released a seven-inch Gingerbread tablet with the custom Sense UI and single-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor. But the Flyer?s most defining characteristic is its N-trig pen accessory and HTC Scribe Technology, which turns the Flyer into a bona-fide note-taking tablet.
Read on to find out if HTC?s gamble paid off and if the Flyer is a scribbler?s dream tablet.

Re: HTC Flyer Review Discussion
Overall this is a good review. But some features that were considered negatives in this article is actually a positive for me.
- poor viewing angles. I always look at my tablet head on and the poor viewing angles is actually good so I don't have people snooping on me.
- the 7" size class is not affected much by whether it is gingerbread or honeycomb. i have a 7" now and all apps look fine to me. it may be better with honeycomb but not a big deal
- i rarely turn my volume up so i probably won't miss the bad built in speakers. if i watch movie or listen to music i use headphones.
I have the 7" streak now and will probably get the Flyer in the next week. the main reason is that it has a mini-USB and the pen. the only thing that bothers me is the lower performance of this device.
I'm still waiting for an app where there is a small window in the corner of my tablet showing the video from the back camera. that way i can type emails while walking and not bump into people.

Re: HTC Flyer Review Discussion
Thanks for the input Tinga... interesting take on the poor viewing angle, that's something I hadn't considered.
I think if you upgrade from the Dell Streak 7, you'll notice two huge improvements -- a much better screen resolution and better battery life. The Dell Streak 7, while inexpensive compared with the rest of the market, really suffered with its screen and battery.
