Another awesome MS research video about Pen computing's future
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sTgLYH8qWs
Touch + Pen = Genius.
That video demo is pure ***, and it's close to what I've been dreaming about for future Cintiq implementations: You have a multi-touch virtual straight edge, sweeps and curves which you manipulate with your less dominant hand, and you draw with the pen in your dominant hand. *drool.....*

Re: Another awesome MS research video about Pen computing's future
Yeah this is slick. They need to bring this to the tablet PC and sell monitors with pen and touch support. Adds a whole new world to pen and touch far beyond anything we have today, including the iPad. Imagine this running on our tm2s!

Re: Another awesome MS research video about Pen computing's future
I bet you Microsoft will offer something like l this for Tablet PCs somewhere down the line as they now have incentive to do so to compete with the iPad. This is just such a sophisticated pen and touch UI that brings a screen build UI that blows anything on a iPad away.

Re: Another awesome MS research video about Pen computing's future
I knew MS was on to something when they integrated touch AND pen into the Courier concept. This just confirms it.
Imagine seeing school whiteboards/chalkboards like this...

Re: Another awesome MS research video about Pen computing's future
With the iPad out and all the tablet hoopla, I'd bet sooner rather than latter. Modern tablets like the tm2 can run this I would think.
This biggest issue would be drivers for the devices as right now most of the don't accept simultaneous pen and touch input correct? But that should be a simple thing to fix with a driver I would think.• Samsung Series 7 XE700T1A-A04US 11.6-Inch Slate (128 GB, Win 7 HP)

Re: Another awesome MS research video about Pen computing's future
There's nothing special about the hardware that's running the demo in the video. Surface hardware is just a run of the mill PC running with special optical multitouch setup and special software. They could easily port that demo to a TM2 or T4410 easily if they tweak the digitizer driver to accept touch and pen input at the same time.
Edit: You sneaky stealth editor! :P Now I just sound redundant.

Re: Another awesome MS research video about Pen computing's future
Looks fabulous but I wonder how all those posters who "poo-pooed" finger prints on the screen will work with this if it becomes a popular technology.
I would love to see this tech reach the domestic large format hi res screens we have in our homes as well as the smaller screens we use with our computers.
