Live from CES:  New Tablet PC OS Updates from Microsoft!

Last night while attending the Digital Focus event here at CES in Las Vegas, we had a chance to chat with Microsoft's Tablet PC gurus.  While asking "what's new?", we were very pleased to see a first hand demonstration fun new Microsoft software in the works, just for the Tablet PC.  I was shown Microsoft's new Windows Media Player skin/interface that is being designed just for the Windows XP Tablet PC Edition.  Not only was this the coolest skin I have ever seen for WMP, but it integrates the addition of "tactile" feeling, graphically-oriented volume dials and controls that can be controlled with your pen.  This ability to use your pen with these simulated controls makes the user experience exceptional in comparison to using the old boring mouse or keyboard!

Secondly, we got to check out another new addition in the works.  This software allows the user to intuitively us the pen to send, receive and catalog media files between connected devices using the Tablet PC.

The software at this stage is elegantly designed, integrating intelligent graphical "buttons" that can be controlled with the pen.

Overall, these new Tablet PC OS features are no earthshattering "must have now" additions.  Many mp3 and video mongers however, will absolutely love to play with this new stuff on their Tablet PC's upon its release.  When will the new additions be made available?  No word from Redmond as of yet!

Stay tuned for more stories live from CES, Las Vegas...

Continual development is a great sign for the platform. This along with new units announced and some we know about that aren't announced bodes well for the future of Tablet PC.
