New Fujitsu Tablet PC Spotted?
Thanks to a friend of TabletPCReview, we got some pictures of what looks to be a new LifeBook Tablet PC from Fujitsu. He spotted the LifeBook at a customer presentation Fujitsu gave last week in Germany.

(view large image)At this point the following specifications are known:
- Intel Core 2 Duo P8400
- 13.3" passive digitizer Display
- Accessories in the same design
As I mentioned, not much is known at this time or if this model will even make it to the States, but it looks nice. If it lives up to other Fujitsu models we know it will have a solid chassis and great display, although it is passive.

(view large image)It also looks like Fujitsu has jumped on the P-series processor bandwagon from Intel. This is the same line of processors that come in the MacBook Air. This Intel Core 2 Duo design is very small in size, but still maintains the power.
It looks as though it could be a replacement for the T2010 tablets or maybe we are in luck and Fujitsu has a completely new design. No word on pricing yet either, but we hope more information will start trickling out.
Thanks to Manuel for the tip.

Re: New Fujitsu Tablet PC Spotted?
Considering the 12" T2010 is also thin, light, has an active digitizer and a near full-sized keyboard, I don't really see where this is going. Unless it's priced competitively, it doesn't really fit well in the FS lineup. I would have said MacBook Air competitor if it weren't for the huge battery sticking out of the back. I would have said finally a cheap tablet from FS, but considering the 1000 dollar space has tablets with active digitizers I can't really speculate on that either.
Judging by the thin chassis and the 'accessories by the same design' I'd say it's like the MBA, with a USB DVDRW drive and a touchscreen. For about half the price with a full package like the LG C1 series, I would say a definitive yes. Anything less, and it's either overpriced or underspecced in my book.

Re: New Fujitsu Tablet PC Spotted?
I agree. Hopefully it has a cheaper price tag maybe more like the Hp tx2000. It does have similarities to the MBA, being thin and hopefully light. Since it has a passive digitizer, which surprises me, it better be cheaper.

Re: New Fujitsu Tablet PC Spotted?
This model seems interesting, if only we could see what the numbers and letters are next to "LIFEBOOK" on the "keyboard bezel" as kureshii termed.

Well, looking forward to more information on this when it comes around.
EDIT:
Now when I re-read the above article, I see that it comes with a passive digitizer (odd). Thus, I can deduce that this upcoming model will most likely be a P-series Tablet PC. If this were to be a replacement for the current T2010 Tablet PC, it must have an active digitizer to succeed it. So, I really think this will be a bigger brother of the current P1620. Let's just be happy that the battery is removable.

Wow, I'm surprised. Fujitsu's stuff are not known to be cheap (price wise). and from the look, this certainly appears to be a mid-high end model, but with a passive digitizer? i thought fujitsu ditched that technology when they retired their older stylistic line (like stylistic 3400s) :S So like others said, unless this is under $1200 (or even $1000) like the tx2000, i will be scratching my head wondering where Fujitsu is going with this, doesn't fit in with their usual business and model line up.

i think that's a docking station, not a battery. but if it is... coupled with the CPU chip it's using. lol THREE DAY BATTERY LIFE!!!

Re: New Fujitsu Tablet PC Spotted?
Well, here's the thing. The P1620 is quite expensive. So is the T2010. If this thing is also expensive, where does it put it? It's bigger than both, looks thinner than both but if it's high end, then the digitizer should be active, and if it's low end, then how will it be priced?
What I'm hoping for is the new Wacom capacitive touch tech going into this, as well as possibly an active Wacom digitizer as well. I would pay Fujitsu prices for a machine like that. I do hate all that bezel space though (around both the screen and the keyboard).

Re: New Fujitsu Tablet PC Spotted?
The only thing that any new Fujitsu tablet needs is a dedicated graphics card or dual-touch capability, in any one of the existing chassis designs. This is, of course ignoring other little cries like fixing the PIO-only card reader, putting Expresscard interface in, etc.
quantum, I do believe that thing at the back is a port replicator =) I wish Fujitsu sold batteries that big though.
Judging by Fujitsu trends, it probably says "Lifebook P-series" or something equally boring
Not that I'm complaining, it's a nice and refreshing deviation from long and unwieldy product model numbers.

Re: New Fujitsu Tablet PC Spotted?
Considering how sleek the machine looks, it's a bit disappointing that the port replicator is so bulky...
Oh and I also think Fujitsu tablets need a price drop as well as other aforementioned things.

Re: New Fujitsu Tablet PC Spotted?
Now days, I cannot imagine producing a performance tablet without passive / active digitizer display. Can someone confirm this?

Re: New Fujitsu Tablet PC Spotted?
I hope they do a better job with the passive digitizer than HP did. I don't understand why they would want a passive digitizer anyway, if anything they should make a combo passive/active without a horrible screen.
Tablet: HP 2710p: 2 GB RAM, 80 GB HDD, 12.1" screen, LED backlit, core 2 duo 1.2 ghz
current laptop: HP dv9000. 1 GB ram. AMD Turion 64 X2. 120 GB hard drive. 17 inch screen. Vista Home Premium.
AMD pwns Intel. But I still bought a C2D with my tablet
