Default Will the LE1700 get LED backlighting?

I have a Fujitsu T4215 (with the SXGA+ screen) and now I'm saving my pennies to get a pure slate model. I"m leaning towards the LE1700 and I sure would like LED backlighting to be a part of the package.

    Has anyone heard anything?

    Don't think so, especially because I don't know a 4:3 LED backlit SXGA+ display.

The LE1700 is also outdated, so I would wait for the refresh (if a refresh is coming) or take the Fujitsu Stylistic ST6012.
Sadly the Fujitsu also does not have a LED backlit display (don't ask me why, it's just stupid from Fujitsu to not include the LED backlit display) but it uses the latest Centrino 2 platform with the fast IGP and fast and power efficient ULV penryn CPU.

So I think, if you could live with a WXGA display, then better get the Fujitsu. The Motion will not be faster than your current laptop, maybe even slower, which is a pity if you buy an expensive new tablet.

It is not fair to call the LE1700 outdated!

If it were outdated the hardware would be old and the price low, but Motion Computing does not allow that to happen by keeping the prices high.

Seriously though, i think you are out of luck.

You want SXGA+, LED and Slate?
Pick 1 (or the overpriced outdated le1700)

I could probably live with the WXGA. But on a tablet, I'm a bit closer to the screen than a regular laptop. Tiny fonts isn't really a problem. Jeez, buying a tablet pc is like buying a Mac. There's always one feature that you would like but can't get. You'd think that slate makers would be all over LED backlights considering that brighter, draws less power and thinner. Okay, my rant is over.
