Default NEW X41's ONLY 10 DAY WAIT TO SHIP!

I'm new here, but I've been gleaning info from all of your posts. Thanks to all who helped me decide on the x41. I ordered one today, and to my surprise, they told me it would only be 10 days to shipping. I called Lenovo on Monday to ask a few questions, and I was told that due to high demand, they were on a six-week wait. Today, they said they have stepped up production to meet demand.

    Here's what I got for $2298.00 +tax:
-512 RAM (to be upgraded to 1.5GB total)
    -60GB HDD
    -8 cell battery
    -MS OneNote
    -Targus external CD-R/W, DVD-ROM
    -Bluetooth
    -Tablet Sleeve

Right on Doug. You'll have to let us know if they keep up to their 10-day promise. I know that a lot more users would choose the X41 if the wait time was reduced. Thanks for posting!

Default BAD NEWS!!! Re: NEW X41's ONLY 10 DAY WAIT TO SHIP!

I got the x41 today in a blazing fast 7 days. The bad news... it's defective, and it will need to be exchanged. It has an "error 1802" message, which is a board issue, and not user-fixable. Windows won't start, so I didn't even get a chance to put pen to screen. It's a little disappointing, but I'm not too upset-- before I ordered it, I wasn't expecting to get it delivered until mid-late December. My other issues are minor; they shipped the wrong external drive which will also be exchanged(cd-rom/dvd-rom instead of cd-rw/dvd rom). And the "track shipment" process had an error that showed I had already received the PC several days ago (no big deal, but a glitch none the less). Hopefully they come thru with some overnight shipping, and/or a fat discount for the trouble.

well, that's a black eye to IBM and customer service though, a tablet pc/notebook that arrives DOA (dead on arrival) is a very bad thing, it'd be sort of nice if they had a worker to push a power button to see if a finished product actually turns on without a problem to avoid this type of issue. let us know how it turns out and how long it takes to resolve.

Let's hope it died in shipping. I would expect that IBM/Lenovo offer an effective QC check before shipping a machine.

It's here! The replacement arrived in 3 business days and best of all, this one works. The PC itself got here before the rest of the bundled items. First impressions are great, but I'm curious to see how it will work outside, and I'm looking forward to getting OneNote and of course the optical drive to install it with. I'm very happy with Lenovo and the service they gave. Even a company with a good reputation can send out a dog occasionally, but they really came thru to fix it. Actually, even with the return, the x41 was still delivered in NINE business days, So hopefully anyone who read my slightly negative post will read this followup. I will spend the next several days getting acquainted with the world of the TabletPC!
    Thanks again!
