Thinkpad Design Poll
ALL,
Almost every review I've read concerning a thinkpad has constantly made a con out of the way the thinkpads look. For me personally I love their utalitarian minimalist design, and was curious if I'm alone in this.
What do you think? Do you care, or like me is it an actual factor in going with the thinkpad line?

Re: Thinkpad Design Poll
Actually, I really like how the X220T has sharp corners at the back that taper off at the front. Reminds me of a knife's edge.
x220t: i7, intel SSD.

I've not see one in the flesh as yet other than from across an airport waiting room so I'll update once it arrives. I 'am' a bit of a 'shiny' kind of guy epsecially after the Envy 13/TM2 so we'll see

Re: Thinkpad Design Poll
I like them a lot, especially the keyboards. I've been hooked ever since using them in middle school (I liked the feel of the eraser style pointer).
EDIT: I am writing using the X61, so I am not familiar with the design of the newer tablets.Last edited by Lion_IX; 01-18-2012 at 10:31 AM.

Re: Thinkpad Design Poll
I like the designs for the most part, but the X220t has gone seriously downhill compared to its predecessors, especially with the clear example of how NOT to design slice batteries, or even rear-mounted main batteries that don't go along the whole edge.
I'd say the X60t/X61t design was best, but the X200t/X201t design isn't too far behind.

Re: Thinkpad Design Poll
I don't think that pictures do the X220 justice as I'm finding it quite nice. Sure, obviously, it's not an Envy 13 or HP 2560p but it's not supposed to be. All in all now that I've seen one in the flesh it's ok. (Although I'm pretty sure that Lenovo could make a snazzier shell if they tried)

Re: Thinkpad Design Poll
I still have two Thinkpad laptops that get used regularly as homework computers. One says "IBM Thinkpad" and the other just "Thinkpad." True workhorses and work well. The signature black is wonderful.

Re: Thinkpad Design Poll
When you look at a ThinkPad from 15 years ago, it looks nearly the same if a bit slimmer and lighter. I like ThinkPad design. It's simple, elegant and timeless, which you can't have if you're changing the design every five minutes to cater to the whim du jour.
