Putting a screen protector beneath the bezel
I have ordered a screen protector to get some tooth when writing. It's slightly larger than my x200t's screen.
I would like to lift the bezel and put it under it to get full screen coverage. I've read the online manual about lifting the bezel- the pittle plastic tabs, the screws on the top and side, the double sided tape, etc. is there anything more to it than that that I should know about so I don't screw it up? Is this a dumb idea and I should just get a "properly" sized 12.1" screen? Or is it really just pretty easy to do? Lift bezel, install screen, replace bezel?
Looking for advice from those who have lifted the bezel before.
Btw: how do you edit the title of the thread? Would like to fix the typo, but can't find a way.Last edited by Steve B; 01-14-2012 at 12:18 AM.

Re: Putting a steen protector beneath the bezel
Assuming that the bezel is held on the same way as on the x6xt, then there isn't anything special about opening it. I've replaced the bezel on my x61t a few times, and the only advice I can give is to go slow and be careful. The tape is super sticky(if i remember correctly) and it was the only thing that gave me any trouble. Hope that helps

Hit the service and training site. It has videos showing how to disassemble the LCD.

Re: Putting a steen protector beneath the bezel
Thank you for that link Zaz. The organization of the videos left something to be desired (they're under laptops, not "tablets", then to the x200t link on the next page), but once I found them they were very informative.
The verdict? After watching the videos, and having just gotten this back from the depot, I'm now not really sure if I feel like taking the screen bezel apart just to get a better fit on the screen protector. And the idea of having to largely disassemble the laptop to upgrade the Wireless card (which for some reason is on the top of the board, under the palmrest, rather than more accessibly on the back of the unit) gives me pause. I'm sure wireless N would help with streaming videos, downloads, etc. but how much? I'm not sure, and I don't really use my computer for watching TV the way my wife does.
It almost seems crazy hearing it come out of my mouth, but I might just leave this thing alone for a while as it seems to be working just fine.
The videos though, for other who might read this in the future, are quite informative. Really impressive that they have those available. I wish other companies had something so instructive on the net.Currently own:

Re: Putting a steen protector beneath the bezel
Just fyi for those who might read this- I went ahead and tried it out. Getting the bezel to lift really is as easy as removing screws around the perimeter and lifting the screen. I've had a custom cut screen protector on for about a month. It has nice texture, but does reflect much more. I might be taking it off, but getting it on wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be.

Re: Putting a steen protector beneath the bezel
Hi Steve, I was wondering if you still have some type of screen protector on the display, or have been able to manage without one? Just got a new (old) x200 with super bright outdoor screen, and was wondering if a protector for it is a good idea, and if so, which one specifically. Thanks.
