No more hopeless scrolling through tabook's and service manuals! No more contradictory comments from different people about different panels and no more Lenovo ambiguity and doubt. After three long weeks of research and compiling information, I present to you the Holy Grail of X200 Tablet LCD panel information!!

so 3) and 6) are the same P/N? but I guess I cannot get multitouch on my X200T build 07/2009, right?

I just received my X201t multitouch (it came with screen #6) and I'm very disappointed by the viewing angles and fuzziness resulting from the multitouch layer on the screen. Sharpness, viewing angles, and color consistency were primary factors in my purchase, and the X201t multitouch fails on all counts but one.

Unfortunately, the online retailer I bought it from doesn't allow returns on tablets, so I'm considering taking out the multitouch screen and installing the 400-nit outdoor screen. I've swapped screens on some of my older notebooks, so I'm not afraid of trying with this one.

Using the FRU for #4, I found an eBay seller selling that screen, but before I take the leap, I am unsure about several things:
    a) Would the LCD (FRU 13N7272) that I'd buy off eBay come with the Wacom digitizer built into it?
    b) Does the #4 screen use the same power inverter as the #6 screen?
    c) Does the #4 screen require a different bezel or different mounts than the #6 screen?
    d) Are there any other considerations that should give me pause that I'm not aware of? Or maybe you want to tell me this entire plan is just a little too hair-brained?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

P.S. This is a warning to anyone considering the X200t or X201t multitouch -- don't buy it until you've seen it in person and are sure you can live with the screen!

Just received multitouch x200 and I agree with the previous poster:

    > I'm very disappointed by the viewing angles

Is there any possibility that there are bad units that can be repaired??

That's weird, I thought the EMT was PVA or IPS... I would expect good viewing angles from that.

    Following up here --

I decided to sell the multitouch x201t and buy the x201t with the 400nit outdoor viewable screen. The difference in brightness, viewing angles, and color accuracy is remarkable. For the work I do, I require good quality in all of these areas and this is probably the only notebook screen on the market that achieves this level of quality in all of these areas. I'm very satisfied having made the change.

Of key importance is that there no color shift at any point. There is a noticeable brightness shift when tilting the screen back (probably due to one of the anti-reflective layers). Fortunately it's a sudden shift, not a graduated one, which is good because that makes it very easy to tell where the brightness shift happens.

Also, just to confirm, this is the #4 screen from the list (LT121EE08000)

One final postscript regarding tablets and desirable screens like PVA and IPS. Any time you buy a tablet, sight unseen, you run the risk of not knowing how the implementation of the digitizer affects the display quality. On an old Toshiba Portege tablet that I have (circa 2003), the active digitizer gave the display very poor contrast and visible grid lines. On the X201t multitouch, the capacitive layer negatively affected what is otherwise probably a very nice 300-nit IPS LCD to the point where it performed like an average notebook LCD at best. While the IPS meant that there were technically no viewing angle color shifts occurring at the LCD level, the matte capacitive coating created a sort of darkened chromatic blur from every angle that got significantly worse when the angle wasn't ideal. I'm happy to report that there appear to be no negative digitizer side effects on the excellent X201t outdoor screen.

Of course, for other seekers of high quality notebook screens, like myself, who turn to tablets or used Lenovo Flexview displays as our only option, this wouldn't be necessary if a top-quality notebook maker like Lenovo or Apple would just put an IPS screen into one of their notebooks to begin with! If Lenovo can put an IPS screen in the X201t, they can put one in the X301 or even the W510. If Apple can put an IPS screen in the iPad, they can put one in the Macbook Pro. There are users like myself who need this from our portable computers and will pay the premium for it.

Judging by what was stated on multiple forums, this looks to be a Toshiba IPS panel.
Anyone care to venture what FRU 13N7297 corresponds to? I tried looking it up myself without success, including through Everest. It's another variant of the outdoor-viewable display.

You can add this to the listing:

    IBM FRU: 13N7295

    IBM PN: 27R2490

    WACOM: SU5E-12W27AS-02X

    MODEL: LTD121KX6B (TOSHIBA)

Though it's not one of the ones listed on the current service manual docs: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...cid=MIGR-70700

I just got a new x201t with Multitouch LED screen (topseller 2985EYU in Canada) and can report the following from Everest:

    Model: HV121WX6-110

Don't know exactly what it is but looks like a Hydis screen. I am pretty satisfied with colors and viewing angles but I honestly only have TN panels as basis for comparison (much superior to any of those!).

If anyone wants more info let me know and let me know how to get it and I'll report back with it.

Sorry for cross posting, but maybe this is the best place to talk about this.

The screen of my X200T broke down last week. At first, the Mother Board was changed because I didn't have anything even on my docking station.

After the change of my bother board I was able to work on the docking station but I still get nothing displayed on the screen.

So the screen was changed, before the new screen was installed I noted this informations :

    P/N : 27R2490
    LTD121KX6B
    Wistron P/N 60.4Y405.013
    Wacom digitizer SU5R-12W13AS-02X

I would like to know if this screen supports true multitouch (2 fingers) and if this is a capacitive model.

Even if the P/N corresponds to the new screens of X200T, the touch feature seems to be as bad as on my previous screen : need high pressure on the screen to get it works, Windows 7 doesn't allow to install the touch pack because the systems reports that it doesn't support two fingers....

Have I to install something to get it work ? or this is simply impossible ?

    Many thanks,

    Regards

I'm just wondering If I can change my whole CCFL LCD assembly to a LED or would simply changing the digitizer (and leaving the antennas in place) do the trick for my driver woes?

I've been trying for 2 straight days to get pressure sensitivity to work outside of Office 2007 and so far, all attempts have failed cause the drivers newer than 510-4 don't accept my digitizer. (Hardware Id WACF00C)
Lenovo x200t Model: 7449-9EU | Frameless CCFL screen | Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN
    1.86Ghz C2D | 4GB DDR3-1333 Corsair RAM | Intel X25-V 40GB SSD | Intel GS45 Chipset with 4500MHD Graphics
Windows 7 Professional x64 (Clean install)
