    Default SATA2 320GB on x61t?

    I'm thinking about getting either Hitachi's 7k200 200GB or WD's 320GB (WD3200BEVT). (price difference of $30)
No doubt the 7k200 will work. But will the WD? In terms of physical fit, it seems like it won't be a problem with it being 9.5mm. But the interface is SATA2 and I don't know if it's backward compatible or not.
    Any ideas?

    SATAII/SATA2 (unofficial name) = SATA300 (official name) and SATAI/SATA1 (unofficial) = SATA150 (official)

SATA300 is backwards compatible with SATA150, thus either way, if the X61t doesn't support SATA300, then it'll fall back to SATA150 with no problems at all.

The 7k200 is also 9.5mm in height, and as such, the WD3200BEVT should fit as well. [Source]

    Thanks.
Before i go all impulsive, are there any reviews on the WD 320GB?
I found some samsung 320GB benchmarks and it seemed to hold well enough compared to 7k200, with the difference seeming justifiable considering that the 320GB is a 5400RPM one.
Google failed me to provided anything on the WD 320GB itself.

You can see the specs for wattage usage for both drives on the sites. Search the forum, I think I actuall yposted them. At idle, the Toshiba was almost 1watt less IIRC.

Been waiting forever for these drives...

    DC

X61T MTouch, 4GB DDR2, 1GB TM, 160GB 5400rpm, BTooth, 8CELL, Windows Vista x64 SP1 (Minus Performance Patch [disables driver signing disablement]), Logitech Nano, newest drivers & 1.04BIOS, Active Rotate, 3yr Depot, Accident Protection via USAA.
