Vista Ultimate keeps hanging! help
My Vista Ultimate keeps hanging, in everyday situations. While opening a program, while doing the usual stuff, it just stops responding. It's enough for one program to crash (like firefox) and then it's impossible to do anything, even Ctrl+alt+del doesn't work. The only thing to do is switch it off by holding the on/off for several seconds. And I have to do it like twice an hour!
It's possible it started after installing some drivers (all from lenovo or intel), but I'm not sure as I did it immediately after a factory reinstall of the system.
Help!
Maybe I'll try the SP1 beta? Anyone has a link to it?
Thanks!Last edited by Stansfield; 09-30-2007 at 12:46 PM.

Re: Vista Ultimate keeps hanging! help
I'm having a similar problem. Have you checked Event Viewer? I have Errors from iastor, which is related to the hybrid storage manager, which is affiliated with Intel Matrix Storage. I had installed a new hard drive and installed the new Matrix Storage driver, but it seems like my system sometimes freezes for about 10 minutes, then continues on as if nothing happened.

Re: Vista Ultimate keeps hanging! help
Ok, I found the errors from when my system froze. They're all some timeouts:
A timeout (30000 miliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from TrkWks service.
Log: System
Source: Service Control Manager
Event ID: 7011
I got two like this one, and one with SysMain service.
Any idea what's going on?X61t CTO, Core 2 Duo L7500 LV, SuperView SXGA+, 2GB DDR2 667MHz, 160GB 5400rpm, Turbo Memory 1GB, Intel 4965AGN, Fingerprint, Bluetooth, 8 cell, Ultrabase+DVD Burner, Vista Ultimate SP1 - the best tablet PC in Eastern Europe

Re: Vista Ultimate keeps hanging! help
Weird, not sure what those services are...I think I solved the iaStor issue by reinstalling the latest Intel Turbo Memory driver, then the latest Matrix Storage driver.

Re: Vista Ultimate keeps hanging! help
Has anyone had this problem and solved it? I have a T61 and have the EXACT problem described here. I've installed Vista SP1 and all drivers, etc., including the updated IASTOR from Lenovo but still have this issue. Thanks in advance!

Re: Vista Ultimate keeps hanging! help
Count me in as someone experience Vista issues. Over the past 9 months with my x61t I've had an increasing number of problems with Vista Ultimate, even after SP1 was installed. And as an ex-Windows/C++ developer, its not like I am completely naive about Microsoft operating systems.
Having worked with a number of PC and Unix operating systems (not to mention MVS on an IBM OS/360) over the past two decades, incuding every MS OS since DOS 3.3 and Windows 3.1, and having even suffered through OS/2 prior to Warp, I have allot of patience for OS quirks, but I finally realized I was wasting too much time with Vista and, like an increasing number of people, am considering switching back to XP or maybe a Linux distro. And it certainly doesn't help that Vista is built around the philosophy that we are all latent criminals needing to be held in check with layers of DRM and copy protection schemes (which real pirates have no issue circumventing anyway).
Within Vista there is a great OS struggling to escape. I just hope MS regain the balls to stand up to the RIAA and others, and get back to their OS roots and deliver some kick-ass OS software.X61T (JP model), 3GB RAM, SXGA+, 200GB 7200RPM HDD, Ubuntu 64bit
