Screen Rotation Gadget
Hey all,
I got my 2740p two weeks ago and am loving it (regardless of minor issues, including the fact that it came with a defective 2gb ram module - which my local hp dealer is replacing). anyway, i do find that the screen auto-rotation thing is a tad slow and sometimes rotates in directions contrary to my intended screen orientation. is there software (perhaps/preferrably a gadget) to switch the orientation? i saw something (a gadget) here for the tm2 and i know there is a hardware button but i have to press this usually up to 3 times in order to get it back to the correct orientation. btw pressing the button is often faster than waiting for the computer to do its do... if there was an on screen button this would indeed be faster. i also know that ctrl-alt-<arrow> will rotate the screen to that direction, but when in tablet mode the keyboard is covered. thanks for any input.

Re: Screen Rotation Gadget
thanks, i did come across that application but is it/would it work on the elitebooks? i am guessing the same, or similar, technology drives the machines? anyway, i am gonna give it a whirl. will let the forum know the outcome.
edit:
well i tried it. first off it requires uac to allow it to run, secondly it had too many controls for my needs. all i wanted was to be able to switch the screen rotations via a simple on screen cintrol panel app/gadget. ah well, maybe someone will develop something. thanks again for the input.Last edited by act-tpcr; 12-05-2010 at 01:35 AM. Re: Screen Rotation Gadget
most programs require UAC to run the first time you run it, you can set it to allow it to run w/o needing permission. But i understand that it might be more than you need.
also check out this gadget that was made

Re: Screen Rotation Gadget
yeah, i know about uac but it does ask every time i run it. anyway thanks for the other suggestion, which i have tried and seems to be a bit wonky i.e. i select an orientation and it presents me with another. lol. this is closer to what i am looking for though. thanks a lot for your assistance.

Re: Screen Rotation Gadget
I just love the TM2 control ever since the first rev. was written by a poster there. I don't have problems with the UAC, and I agree it can be overriden.
One last point: in your sig you suggest searching first to see if your question has been answered earlier; I agree in principle, but the search function on this system is so bad, that I find it rarely useful.Microsoft Surface Pro 128 Type cover.
