I can't believe HP is releasing this tablet with those kinds of specs for
the price. IMO ,the price: specs ratio does not seem to match.
It seems to be under speced and over priced at almost all price points.
Anyway....good luck HP.
But then you never know I might consider it....!

If they had left the tablet at 8.x" like the Slate 500/2, upped the resolution to WXGA and adopted a 16:10 aspect ratio IPS display, they would have a real niche product. Probably worth $700 for a 64GB base model. As it is now, the elitepad 900 will be competing directly with a lot of 10" tablets that are going to be significantly less expensive. Both Lenovo and Dell will be offering coupons and discounts on their 10" tablets by the time the elitepad is released in late January. It looks like it's going to meet a lot of headwind. Then again, the Surface Pro should be shipping by then, offering a lot more power and performance for a bit more money.

HP is counting on the jackets to make the ElitePad stand out. Personally, I think they should have put (at least) 1 USB port, 1 HDMI port and 1 SD Card slot on the slate itself. If, on the top of that, they offered a jacket with even more ports plus a battery, that would be a bonus. Well, an airline recently bought a bunch of ElitePads, so HP's jacket strategy might pay off. With the ElitePad, HP is focused on business users, so they don't if that device misses the Xmas rush.
