Default Will The Restore CD Still Work If I Wipe The Hard Drive?

    Hi all,

I'm getting ready to sell my TX2500, as I bought a Tm2 last month, and have a question about wiping the hard drive and then restoring the hard drive to factory.

The hard drive has a partition for recovery data on the hard drive. Is this needed when restoring the hard drive with the cd? I want to use one of those programs that wipes your hard drive clean so no one can get the data off it, then restore it back to factory using the cd. Is this possible?

Basically, will the cd still work if the hard drive is bare as dirt?

I figure it'll be ok, but thought I'd ask, to avert disaster. I tend to attract disaster, so I am a cautious gal, lol.

Has anyone done this type of thing? Thanks in advance.

you can use that partition on the disk to wipe the primary partition.

the way I take it, if that partition works it adds a little bit to the value of the computer. (just like computers that come physical restore disks are worth more)

if the next owner doesn't want it then they can delete it themselves.

it's the lazy/easy/better way to do it,

If there's two partitions, you could do a clean wipe of the system partition, and leave behind the recovery partition.

Bear in mind though, you want to blank the hdd out with 0's, and NOT just format it. It needs to be wiped over with blank / random data, and not just formatted, as data can be recovered from after just a format.

Restore CD will also create a recovery partition on the hard drive just like when you bought it new.
