Default TC1100, SP3 and endless reboot loop

Did anyone try setting up XP SP3 on the TC1100 (Centrino 1 GHz, 160G / 1.5G, BT/Wi-Fi, English XP Tablet SP2)? I’ve tried to install SP3 on mine (using the “Checked” Registry hack described at http://www.askvg.com/windows-xp-sp3-...ervice-pack-3/ ). It got into the well-known endless reboot loop described at http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquir...ktop-users-sit

Did anyone have success installing SP3 and/or restoring the system without having to fully reinstall Windows (by, for example, putting the HDD in another PC and doing some work there)?

Note that the error, while it's still a "STOP: 0x0000007E" error, the first parameter in the parentheses, 0x80000003, is different from AMD's 0xC0000005 (see the related http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330182 , which emphasizes it MUST be 0xC0000005); that is, the problem is something entirely different than that of AMD.

I've found very few occurrences of the same error (related to SP3) searching for "sp3 0x0000007E 0x80000003"; see for example http://forums.microsoft.com/technet/...se&siteid =17
