Default memory upgrade (how to) on the tc4400

    Hi there

I just got 2gig Ram upgrade today for my tablet. However, I seem to be in no luck in getting the guide for replacing the ram module that sits under the keyboard, and I would really not like to do something wrong.

This link seems to not work any more.

I will appreciate very much if anyone can share some insight knowledge on how to do this.

    cheers,
    Peter

    Hi PVIllustration,

The link you provided works for me on this end, perhaps there's a problem with the connection you're going through, or the file just happened to be down whilst you were retrieving it.

Cheers. It worked for me now also. Very strange though as it has been down for quite a few days and suddenly popped back up.

well, tried following the instructions but it is clearly not written for the tc4400. More likely for the traditional hp laptops. So, as I didn't want to break anything I didn't manage to get to the ram sockets beneath the keyboard.

However, it seems that I'm alright as the additional ram I put in the main slot got the tablet ram to an overall of 2 gb as I wanted. Seems like the shop I bought it at did indeed put one stick of 1gb ram in there instead of the normal 2x512mb. However I would be feeling better if I was sure that I have the same brand of ram in both slots. That's why I still need to access the slot under the keyboard.

I would really appreciate if someone with experince in this would provide info on how to lift the keyboard and the upper panel off the tablet. What else to look out for (wiring connections etc.).

    thanks,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,

Try this manual which has specific instructions for the tc4400 model.

    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...Fc00753067.pdf

Instructions for what you require are on page 1-6 to 1-16.

You could, of course, save the hassle of opening up your tablet and downloading CPU-Z and going to the Memory or the SPD tab and find out which type, brand, capacity, and so forth of memory you have in both of your slots.

Thanks. I don't what it is with those hp .pdf documents, but right now I don't seem to be able to download it.

Maybe it will get back online in the same mystic manner the other did.

    Hi Peter,

That is strange, it doesn't seem to be working on my end as well.

I've redone the steps I've taken to get the exact PDF file you require, I'll post the steps and as well as the direct link to the PDF.

    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/su.../c00753067.pdf

    1.) Go here: http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/...isplay=support
2.) Type in "tc4400" in the search box under "Support for your products:".
3.) Click "Manuals" under "Resources for HP Compaq tc4400 Tablet PC".
4.) Look out for the link titled "HP Compaq tc4400 Tablet PC - Memory Modules", click it and it will get you the PDF file that I have listed above.
