Default Can I add BLUETOOTH to a tablet that does NOT have it?

Ie, can I buy some kind of dongle that will give my tablet ability to communicate
with other bluetooth devices like external keyboards, my car stereo (for voice out
when using it as GPS/map device), etc?

IF so, is it a simple procedure or not and also, can you recommend devices/dongles?

Considering getting an android tablet to use as a GPS unit for my vehicle.

    Thanks

    George

I have done this on my TC1100 whihc did not have BT. I purchased a BT radio USB plug that is barely larger than the case around the USB port. I cannot say if there is anything like this for Android however.

Mine is a GFM V2.0+EDR. It is a bit old (about 3 years) so I bet there is newer stuff out now.

Check out the stuff on Newegg for some ideas:

Bluetooth Adapters, Bluetooth Dongle, Bluetooth USB Adapters - Newegg.com

I've got usb adapters coming out the wazoo but I always thought they were RECEIVERS ONLY and not in this case, transmitters which would be the case if I want
the tablet to send the sound to my car stereo, right?

    Thanks

Yes, I used to use mine to broadcast my music to a set of BT headphones that I would then wear around the house working on projects.

I believe these will only work with Windows and maybe Linux but I am not sure of adapters such as these to work with Android or iOS.

I used to use my adapter up until I purchased a TabletPC with built-in BT.

I guess I'm going with a tablet WITH bluetooth to keep things simple.

Here's another question. Have you heard of Augmented Reality Navigation? Follow Me

I guess if my tablet has a camera, I can do this, but, if I don't want to mount it in the window, do you know if
there's a reasonably priced CAMERA/lens I could buy to mount on the dash instead? Bluetooth or usb?
