You get that a lot when your in tech support.I did get rid of the sound by McGuyvering. I put a USB memory doo-hicky in the whatcha mazoo and the sound was gone and pulled the magigar out and the sound was gone.
(Ex: "I put the rectangle doo-hickey into the blue thing, and now I don't see anything.", "Oh, you mean you couldn't get anything on your monitor? Hmm, must be the VGA cable that's faulty, I'll come by and replace it" "Uhh..yeah that's it...thanks.")
I think it vaguely translates to: "I did get rid of the sound by doing this fix. I put a USB Flash drive into a USB port and the sound from the processor ceased, then pulled out the Flash drive and the sound from the processor still did not output." That is until thetick244 put it into hibernation, and it came back again.
"MacGyvering" (named after the TV show "MacGyver") is the act of rigging a solution to a problem (often something electronic, but sometimes something mechanical) out of bits and pieces you manage to randomly find. If you've seen the show, MacGyver sometimes uses simple objects, or rigs a car to be a laser; I don't know, I was way too young to even remember or watch the show; was more interested in walking then.

Thank you SimsHsia.
Old (ish) I may be but that's a new one on me.
Reminds me of the lyrics to 'Blue Moon' with it's
"wah-diddy-wah, dooby-do-ba-da-ding-a-dong"

Thanks!! It worked for me!!
I have been suffering with this noise but there werent any solutions as this was a new problem with the new technology. I guess I had to wait a couple of months until someone found one.
It worked on my HP Pavilion dv5000 - Core duo T2250. The problem has been reported on almost every make: HP, Gateway, Dell, Apple.
Here is the link that brought me to this forum:

hmmm. Forum isn't sending me notifications of replies, oh well...
thank you, for sharing, too. It's lame it didn't work for you, but I think you'll figure it out, McGuyvering and all, lol, I used to watch that show and had forgotten 'bout it! I was too young, mang. thanx for the memories
I had a problem with the tablet always wanting to write to hard drive everytime I switched between open aplications, made it very slow. I learned it had to do with virtual memory and page file size or something like that. Changed it to "Inital size"="Maximum size"=2256 MB and it's fixed, for now, @ least.
more zippy, less hot, less noise, it ain't writing to disc every too seconds and wakes quicker from standby-screensaver... let's see on the long run.
thanx!

I just got mine a few days ago. The buzzing noise was quite noticable, but I don't think as bad as many of you hyped it up to be. I tried the USB root power management, didn't work.
I tried this method and it works perfectly, now it's completely silent all the time.

Yubastard, you rule man! I tried it on my CX2724 and it works as soon as I completed the last step.
However, I don't know if my eyes are playing tricks on me, but for the "Battery Profile", I find that by using "Power Saving" selection, the screen dims and brightens (not by much but noticable) very frequently. Fortunately, by choosing the alternative you suggested ("Power on Demand") it doesn't dim and brighten as often. My battery life is pretty good too, I think, but I think I lost a bit too. I'll have to do a full recharge and test again.
Thanks again YUBASTARD! (no offense)
