try cleaning the port replicator port...? If you say that you have tried two diff port reps and both have the same problem, then your problem is either in the laptop or just onthe port replicator... See if any of the pins are missing or miss alaigned...

I gave up on using the port replicator and now just plug all the cables directly into the tablet. A real pain to do all the time, but the video quality with the port replicator was just unacceptable.

What are the specs on your tablet? Intel or ATI, how much RAM and what is the OS?

It has to do with dirty power coming from the power adaptor. I get speaker whine and banding when ever I have a external monitor and speakers hooked up and I am plugged into the wall. Contact Gateway support for a new adapter.
