Re: q550 at frys
That is good news!
I hope that more retailers start carrying slates like the Q550 so people have more of a chance to try what is out there.
Did they have it available with the pen tethered or available to try?
I guess it would be to much to hope to have windows journal or hopefully one note on it for people to try out.Rigel

Fujitsu Q550 now collecting dust in the closet... destined to be part of some robotics project.

...Over the weekend, my son and I went to Micro Center to see if there was anything new. In addition to the iPads, I was pleased to see that they had eleven tablets on display, including the Asus EP121 and the Transformer (Acer A500, Xoom, etc...)!
Conversely, I stopped at Sam's Club this evening and they had an HP TouchPad on display. It can't have been there for more than a few days, but it was already malfunctioning. Way to go, HP and Sam's...!

Re: q550 at frys
I went to frys today and try out q550 and acer w500 somehow w500 seem better than q550 the touch screen is more responsive and pinch zoom is really smooth without any jerky like q550.The windows score on w500 is 2.7 and q550 is 2.0 even w500 use AMD 1ghz and the price is more attractive only $550.00 ,anyone here had both of these machine can compare the performance is any difference?

Re: q550 at frys
I'm sure it's lovely, but from what I can tell there's no inking. Most of us here are into the inking thing.
For instance, I don't even use the touch feature.
Also, I noticed at least in one place they are calling the Acer a TabletPC
A TabletPC without a pen now. Yikes
Frankly, you would be out of your mind to buy the Q for only a touch experience. It's only notable for the pretty decent N-trig setup. IMHO

...Most people don't know, or don't remember, but there was actually a short list of requirements that Microsoft said a device had to meet in order to be called a "tabletPC."
One of them was that it had to have a pen...
I used to have the complete list, but it's now lost on one of my old hard drives, the victim of a computer upgrade somewhere along the line in the distant past...
