Lifebook T4310 fan issue
Hello everyone~
I got my T4310 a few days ago and have been playing with it.. everything seems fine except the fan, which turns on very frequently (even when I am browsing the web or open a pdf file) and produce quite noticeable noise. The issue sounds pretty similar to some of the complaints for T2010 (e.g. Taming the Beast (t2010 fan noise and other issues) ).
Do anyone else encounter this issue and any good solutions to this problem?
Thanks!

Re: Lifebook T4310 fan issue
What power plan did you use at that time?

Re: Lifebook T4310 fan issue
I also received my T4310 a couple days ago and encounter the fan on frequently when I am in anything other than power saver mode. But coming from an HP tx2500 tablet the fan noise does not bother me at all. LOL. That thing was a hair dryer. In power save mode I dont notice the fan coming on very much or when it comes on it only runs for a little bit then powers down. Overall I would say that its completely acceptable for the power of the device. But thats just my 2 cents.

Re: Lifebook T4310 fan issue
I was on the balanced mode, and changing to "power saver" mode mentioned above does quiet the fan quite a bit..
I am using the software "Real Temp" to test the temperature, and it seems to stay around 55 Celsius at very low system load.. Is this temprature normal?
Thanks a lot for the help.

Re: Lifebook T4310 fan issue
I assume you're using Windows 7 and stock drivers? (no generic driver).
Could you define the "very low system load" quantitatively? how much CPU load?
FWIW, under balanced mode and light use (web browsing, several internet apps open; CPU load less than 50%) my T5010 temp is hovering around 50 - 55° C.
The fan only audible if the temp goes over 60° C or so. That's when the CPU load stays above 70 or 80%.
Btw, I have no idea why, but Core temp does add +6° C to its temperature reading if we compare it with other tools (CPUID HW monitor, Everest, SIW).-RaZZ

Re: Lifebook T4310 fan issue
Sorry, I am quite a newbie... could you tell me what are "stock drivers"? (I did reinstall Windows 7 to get rid of some bloatware...) but I think I installed most of the drivers from Fujitsu website.
I also installed the rmclock utility and it seems that my cpu stays cool most of the time (around 50 C), however, the fan still turns on to audible level quite often, even when the cpu load is just about 30% for each of the core.
So now I would say I am no longer worrying about the cpu temperature... but it seems that the fan turns on way too aggressively... is there a way to alleviate this? My fan is on almost every minute for about 6 seconds.. very annoying...

Re: Lifebook T4310 fan issue
my cpu is at 55C when idle (only watching web tv and nothing else)
but i personally think its largely because of win7's power settings and needs to be tweaked. i have a toshiba m400 running XPTE and it was running at 3XC when idle and the fan rarely turns on, but when i installed win7 RC onto m400 the fan turns on much more frequently for no apparent reason

Re: Lifebook T4310 fan issue
I was referring to OEM customized driver as Stock driver, as opposed to generic driver provided by manufacturer (e.g. Intel Graphic driver customized by Fujitsu vs Intel generic Graphic Driver). I'm sorry, it seems that term is actually uncommon, so it's just me
.
You could try to enforce passive cooling in all power plan settings

Re: Lifebook T4310 fan issue
Thanks RazzNuts! You and others are really helpful...
I am actually using the "Power saver" mode in Windows 7, and the System Cooling Policy there is already passive... I guess it is not passive enough... maybe I should just try get used to it...

Re: Lifebook T4310 fan issue
NVM.

Assuming the provided value (50° C) is obtained from CoreTemp, your CPU is running cool.
The CPU temp value is actually can also be affected by the ambient temperature, other component dissipated heat, and the surface material the laptop placed on.
Also make sure nothing is obstructing the air intake (in lower, front and back side) and outtake (the spot you can find hot air being vented out)
AFAIK the CPU fan won't be turned on without significant increase of temperature.
Can you tell us on what temperature does the fan start to be audible?
I think if other T4310 users could confirm they are experiencing the same issues, it might just the product glitch. But if other users say otherwise, I could be worried that my product is a lemon.
Let's just wait for other responses from T4310 users.-RaZZ
