Re: Grimnir's Exhaustive T5010 Review
You can add a SSD. Its performance boosts are negligable, I don't think its quite worth the cost just yet. As for a graphics card upgrade..no, I am sorry but you can not. (there are practically no laptops / tablet pcs that you can upgrade the graphics on).
The ddr3 ram and the processor do make this machine FAST though.Fujitsu Lifebook T5010| Intel C2D T9400 2.53 Ghz | 4GB Ram | 320 GB 7200 HDD | Atheros XSPAN ABGN | Modular Bay Battery | Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 8000 (bluetooth)

Re: Grimnir's Exhaustive T5010 Review
I just got mine with a 2.26 processor and 2 gigs of ram and it's still a beast. I'm already grinding away in Photoshop CS3 quite contentedly

Re: Grimnir's Exhaustive T5010 Review
I plan on dropping some crucial in there in the future, but the art I work on isn't tremendous, so so far it's more than meeting my needs. Vista sure is a memory hog though...
THe one thing I've yet to figure out is how to link the touch scroll sensor or security thumb print reader into some sort of active keys. I wanted to set them up to a macro/action in Photoshop for zooming, but so far my google-fu is failing me and I've only seen it mentioned in passing on this site...

Re: Grimnir's Exhaustive T5010 Review
personally I have the scroll sensor disabled. I would only bother trying to enable the zoom function with the scroll sensor if/when I get Adobe CS4

Re: Grimnir's Exhaustive T5010 Review
Anyone tried watching streaming, iTunes and/or DVD video on the 5010?
I'm looking to upgrade from my VY11 slate and it looks like the T5010 is the highest performing unit out there, but I'm bummed that this model only has integrated graphics, and wondering how it does with video.
I'm also a long time Thinkpad user and would otherwise fancy the X200t, but an over 50% CPU speed differential seems nontrivial... I'm not a gamer so this doesn't matter so much to me, but I use my machine for video regularly and stuttering is really annoying. The VY11 cannot handle full-screen streamed video, only in a window, and I'm hoping to be able to watch high-detail full-screen video in bed on whatever I buy as a replacement.

Re: Grimnir's Exhaustive T5010 Review
Hey everyone
So I finally pulled the trigger on the t5010. I got it two weeks ago, right on time, everything working perfectly. And I have to say, it is amazing. My biggest disappointment is that I didn't buy it earlier!
I probably wouldn't even have considered a tablet, let alone stumble upon such a wonderful machine, if it werent for this forum. So I really want to thank you guys for your excellent input, reviews and everything. Grimnir, Shog, and Drtigerlilly have been especially helpful.
So, Thanks a lot!
Streaming video and Dvd playback works perfectly on mine, btw. Haven't tried Itunes though.

encorevous, thank you very much. Please make sure to give Shog and DrTigerlilly some +rep points. They were even helpful to me when I first ventured into these forums (shogmaster especially, even though I wound up returning the Tablet PC he reccomended to me xD )
I've never streamed video from Itunes but DVD video playback plays without a stutter.Fujitsu Lifebook T5010| Intel C2D T9400 2.53 Ghz | 4GB Ram | 320 GB 7200 HDD | Atheros XSPAN ABGN | Modular Bay Battery | Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 8000 (bluetooth)

Re: Grimnir's Exhaustive T5010 Review
Thanks Grimnir for the review!
I am between the t5010 and the hp 2730p. And maybe the m750. In your experience, could you compare any of these machines with your t5010? What made you ultimately decide to get the t5010?

Re: Grimnir's Exhaustive T5010 Review
The 2730p is really thin (1.0-1.1 inches thick), while the T5010 is 1.52 inches thick. It's a big difference, especially if you have it on your desk trying to write on it in tablet mode.
After my initial round of software installations, I almost never use the optical drive again, so the T5010's optical drive means nothing to me since I have a USB DVD drive.
On battery, the ULV processors can be stably undervolted to 0.85V even on the highest multiplier (at least on my 2710p), so my 2710p runs very cool (at 35 celsius browsing and word processing). Compare that to the T5010 which idles at 60 celsius, even undervolting the T5010 only drops you to 50 celsius.
The hinge on the T5010 is pretty nice, bidrectional and sturdy. The 2710p/2730p hinge is strong and sturdy too but it only rotates in one direction.
