Default Pictures of the SXGA+ Screen on "Wide Angles" From 4 Different Angles

I know a lot of people are dieing to look at the wide angle capabilities of the SXGA+ screen on the T4220. These photos were shot using my crappy Sony DigiCam. The close shots are with the macro function on. By no means am I am professional photographer so don't chew me out on the quality. I spent some time on photoshop to also enhance the pictures as best as I could to make them look like what they look like to me in real life. Images have also been shrunk down to 25% of their original size. Hopefully my posting job works and hopefully for those who are trying to decide whether or not to get the SXGA+ screen will be hooked. Please do remember, these photoes do no justice to the screen. It is still way better in person in my opinion. The disclaimer has been told

Thanks for the pictures Legato86, seems to be an awesome screen. But I would be interested if the screen does show the same graininess as my SXGA+ x61t does (I cannot judge this from the pictures).

Wait... I'm confused. I thought that the view wasn't supposed to be as good as my standard screen. Those pictures look great! Am I missing something??

HAH! Graininess on the T4220's screen? I barely see any graininess when looking at this display. Have you looked at the TX1000 series? Now that's graininess to the max (it's not a true tablet anyways, but I'm just comparing screens). I wish I could take a picture of of my screen to show me you lack of graininess but I don't think the camera will pick up that type of detail.

Everything is crisp on this display until you have too much angle on the display. Straight on, the picture is perfect. The screen stock screenprotector adds most of the distortion to the picture but I would rather deal with this blurriness than have my screen scratched. I know for sure that I am pleased with this screen. I don't think I'd be able to stand having only 1024X768 resolution due to the lack of space.

THANK YOU! ...man, have I looked all over the net for these...awesome....helps alot. I got one question for you if you could answer them I can finally order one)))

    1. How would you rate the parallax? The distance where your pen touches to screen and the actual display itself...just wondering if its a large gap (compared to 2710p or x61t)

    2. How would you rate the accuracy of tracking? I mean, is the pen marker on the screen always at where your pen touches, or does it differ in different parts of the screen? Even after calibration?

    thx again.

Okay, the parallax is not too bad on the T4220. At the beginning when I got it, I kept on calibrating the screen because I felt that hte calibration was off and kind gradually got worse over time. After a few more weeks of use, I got used to it. I haven't recalibrated the screen for atleast a good 2 weeks. The margins on the side closest to the hinge is probably the worst margin of all. It is difficult to register accurate pen strokes if you are about 1/3rd or 1/4th of an inch from the edge of the screen. I don't notice this problem too much because, simply, I don't use that part of the screen much. The middle of the screen has perfect calibration 9.9 times out of 10, if not 10. In tablet mode, the left side starts to deviate as you move from centre outwards, which is to be expected. It's off about 1 to 2 mm in some places. Recalibration makes me feel that the deviation is reduced.

When you're asking about tracking, to me it's almost similar to the parallax question. The accuracy is pretty spot on. I don't leave my pen on the screen while surfing the web or whatever else. I only leave my pen on the screen while inking in onenote. As to the accuracy while inking, don't judge so much to where your pen is touching the screen. Focus on what you are inking and you'll be way more accurate, whether or not there is a large discrepancy between where your pen is relative to the screen and where your pointer is on the screen.

To be honest, I'm not bothered by the deviations anymore. I've bought this machine and well, I'm stuck with it so to speak. Don't get me wrong, I love this tablet to death! It is my whole life almost because I use it for everything. I've tried inking on the X60T and I didn't think it was bad at all. If anything, you should get this machine for where the pen is placed. It is so handy to have it inside the screen. I used to think that it was a joke and that it looks so childish to have the pen where it is, but then I realized how childish I was for thinking that. You know instantly if you have your pen or not with you once you open up the screen. You could even check if it was there is your screen is closed. Great things about this machine: the screen is phenominal, the power is quite substantial and the size is just perfect.

Edit: I did forget to mention...the screen is @#$%'in bidirectional. Trust me, it's useful. Sometimes you are having an odd day and you turn the screen the opposite way than you do normally, NO MATTER! I have a bidirectional screen so I am not bound by a unidirectional screen and not having to learn a costly lesson while breaking its hinge. I'm a left hander too so I usually do things opposite to right handed people, so it's a big bonus for me. If anything, the T4220 and the T2010 and most other tablets are built better for lefties. Quick buttons on the side on the right, it's perfect for us because we have our pen in our left; no need to hold your pen on the right while fiddling with another button. Efficiency is key these days, no?

Wow, another leftie... that makes 3 that I know of so far =) Yes, agreed on the leftie-friendly design of the T4220... Just about every tablet screen I've seen swings leftward into tablet mode, which is counterintuitive for lefties. Kudos to Fujitsu for making bi-directional swivelling screens. Likewise for the leftside pen silo. I wonder if the design team was left-handed

Being a Leftie myself, it would be nice to say "Yes, this was the case"... but unfortunately this was not so.

The reason is far more amusing ~ When the screen went to blueprint build, the design was mirrored. As such the screen digital template that came out had the pen and fingerprint reader on the left... as opposed to the right.

It wasn't picked until the digital template had gone into actual production that the error was found.

As such it was left and remains an amusing trademark.

On to the next person to give his/her account of why it is different.....

    Whoa, thank goodness for that.

Ironic that one of the reasons that made me love the T4210 so much was purely due to human error I think I would have liked it less if they'd done it "right", LOL.
