T2010 questions!
I am debating between a T2010 and T4220. I am wondering if the 1.06ghz processor in the T2010 is fast enough. I am going to be using the tablet for note taking, web browsing, programming, and a little photoshop. A little help please.

Re: T2010 questions!
Either Tablet PC should run the applications you intend to use just fine. The only question is where your budget is, then figuring out which one to choose.

Could you, perhaps, copy/paste and answer the Tablet Buying FAQ/Questionnaire (see my signature, next to Resources), so it would help us pinpoint your budget/, features wanted, etc. Thanks!
If you really can't choose between the two, price and budget out of the question, then one will have to look at the comparisons of the features (minus the processor differences).
I've done a brief overview comparing the features of the two Tablets (whether or not you purchase the accessories which I do list), and a detailed explanation, below:
T4220
- A modular bay, hot-swappable for different peripherals
- 6-cell battery (main), optional modular bay 6-cell battery (6-cell + 6-cell = 12-cell).
- Shock-mounted SATA150 5,400 RPM hard drive (40-120GB)
- 12.1" XGA or SXGA+, 4:3 ratio, display
- 82-key keyboard, touchpad with left/right and scroll buttons
- Optional port replicator
- No Firewire (IEEE1394)
- Three USB 2.0 ports, IrDA port.
T2010
- No optical drive
- 6-cell standard or 9-cell extended battery
- Shock-mounted SATA150 5,400 RPM hard drive (60-160GB) or 32GB SSD options
- 12.1" WXGA, 16:10 ratio, LED backlit display
- 84-key keyboard, touchstick.
- Optional docking station
- One 4-pin Firewire (IEEE1394) port, two USB 2.0 ports
The T4220 comes with a modular bay that you can swap out for a weight-saver (to lighten the Tablet PC; default accessory with purchase, depending on where you purchase it from), an optical drive (default option for configurations), a modular bay hard drive, or a modular bay 6-cell battery (for extended battery life; 6 cell + 6 cell = 12 cell battery, however the main battery is the first the drain followed by the modular bay). The T4220 is available only with shock-mounted SATA 5,400 RPM hard drive options (40-120GB). The T4220 comes with either a XGA (1024x768) or SXGA+ (1400x1050) screen resolutions on a 4:3 ration (standard) display. The T4220 has a 82-key keyboard, and a touchpad with a scroll button between the left and right mouse buttons of the touchpad. Can be purchase with an optional port replicator that fits on a portion of the bottom of the unit, thus it tilts it down at an angle. Does not have Firewire (IEEE1394), three USB 2.0 ports, and a IrDA (Infrared data) port.
The T2010 does not come with an optical drive integrated into the unit, instead one must buy an external optical drive to hook up to the unit. There is only the main battery that is available in the standard 6-cell and optional extended 9-cell battery. The T2010 has both shock-mounted SATA 5,400 RPM hard drive (60-160GB) and SSD (solid state disk) 32GB options. The T2010 comes only in a WXGA (1280x800) screen resolution on a 16:10 (or 8:5) ratio widescreen display. In addition, the display itself is LED backlit, thus saving on battery life as LED is more efficient over conventional backlighting (incandescent, ELP, etc). The T2010 has a 84-key keyboard with a touchstick between the keyboard letters of "G" and "H". Can be purchased with a docking station which fits beneath the entire Tablet for more expandability options (DVI, 4 USB ports, place for optical drive); thus it is flush and does not tilt the Tablet at such a great angle the T4220 port replicator does. Has Firewire (IEEE1394), two USB 2.0 ports.
That about sums up what I can say about these two models, I may have missed out a few notable features, that should be the majority of differences of features between the two Tablets.

Re: T2010 questions!
Hi melofellow,
Thanks very much!
OK, from what you have here, I'm thinking that the T2010 with the lower voltage processor will succeed in the all-day battery life category - just make sure that you opt for the 9-cell battery (+ $50), since the 6-cell battery will last 3-6 hours depending on usage. The T4220 will also succeed in that category as well, if you plan to get the modular bay battery with purchase (+ $134 (if bought as a addition to the Tablet) to $249 (if bought later on as an accessory)), so effectively, 6-cell main lithium-ion battery + 6-cell modular bay lithium-ion battery = 12-cell combined; keep in mind that the main lithium-ion battery is the first to drain then the modular bay battery, and not both consecutively.
In addition, please note that if you do plan to use Photoshop and you plan to use a large amount of layers and want to perform different functions (e.g. change hue of a few layers) you may need to be a bit patient with the T2010 while it churns away. If it works and it's doing the job of rendering the Photoshop file you're working on, and it eventually completes it, one should be happy. However, if you'd rather not wait too long, the T4220 is powerful enough to take on most of what you can fling at it in Photoshop.
As for memory, if you really want to save money, I'd recommend you get 1 x 1GB at the initial configuration, then purchase a 2GB RAM module elsewhere (Newegg, Zipzoomfly, Best Buy, so forth) and save a bunch for either that 9-cell battery or modular bay battery. Considering, of course if you want to go with 3GB of total RAM; if you'd rather go for 2GB of total RAM, do the same as mentioned and look for another 1GB stick elsewhere at a third party retailer.
To sum it up, I'd really think you'd really enjoy the Fujitsu LifeBook T2010; if your budget can manage it, you may also want to consider the T4220. If you're a student at an accredited university of college, you may also want to call up Fujitsu and inquire about their 5% off student discount.

Re: T2010 questions!
Hi melofellow,
I'll reserve your latest question to current T2010 and T4220 (or T4215, T4210) owners who own either models with a indoor-only screen or the indoor/outdoor screens.

Re: T2010 questions!
According to this thread, they both have the same glossy type screens. The indoor screen comes installed with a removable AG screen film, which makes it a bit grainy. The indoor/outdoor has a anti-reflective film, which looks to be removable as well.

Re: T2010 questions!
Hmm. To me, portability and Battery Life is more important then Speed and DVD Rom..
The T2010 screen is super beautiful and u won't regret it..
Remember also that the Widescreen gives you more viewable area on your desktop too
