T2010 users, please read. I got a question.
I kind of posted this at the "What Tablet PC to buy" forum section, but I figured that I would get a quicker response here, as I need an answer quick
. Like tomorrow quick.
So I'm asking T2010 users to respond to some of the inquiries I have about this machine. Basically for me now, it's between the T4220 and T2010. And there's a notable price tag between the two (~$300 CAD difference) which could really be well spent for buying a ram upgrade, accessories and such. I would be very budget limited with the T4220 and I don't think Vista runs too well with 1gb ram.
Really, all I have to ask is this. How well is the T2010 working for you guys? Especially for those who upgraded their ram. Do you find any slowdowns or performance problems with it? The 1.06GHz processor speed really bugs me for some reason.
And also, the battery life.. with powersave settings, what are you getting out of it? Because if it really does last 8-9 hours, then compared to the T4220, I save having to buy a modular battery to get the same amount of battery life. Mainly I will be depending on the battery when doing notetaking, so I am hoping that the battery will last that long if I only run OneNote.
Thanks!Last edited by mug3n; 09-07-2007 at 12:07 AM.

Check this link, http://hongkongphooey.wordpress.com/...fujitsu-t2010/, hope it helps. IMHO, 2GB Ram should not be much of a problem in running Vista and other Office applications.

It really all boils down to what you want to use the Tablet for....
If it's mere Office/Internet Browsing/light duties then the T2010 will do you just fine.
If however you are talking Illustration work or heavy processor tasks, then the T4220 will most certainly be much quicker.
However, bear in mind ~ to utilize the full potential of the T4220, you really do need paired RAM and at the very least 2x1GB Modules.

Re: T2010 users, please read. I got a question.
You didn't say what configurations you're comparing. FPCM11124 is the cheapest T2010 Vista, and the FPCM11067 is the cheapest T4220. That's a U7500 vs T7250. That's not even the same league.
Everyone is caught up in the numbers game. Forget the 1.06 or 2.0, you tend to think that the large numbers are best, so you feel inferior by getting something small. But look at it like this, right now I am typing this on a PIII-0.933MHz M. That's nowhere near even the cheapest T2010. But it worked just fine for inking, email, web, IM, skype, programming, watching videos, listening to music, etc. So why would you feel bad about doing the same type of stuff on a way faster processor?
I haven't actually tried the 1.06 model, but the 1.2GHz/1GB is fast. It felt faster in Vista than my Athlon-64 2GHz, 2GB ram. But it did slow down sometimes, every machine you get will, and in my video editing application that pre-renders realtime FX on the fly, I was a little disappointed to see it only displaying 10-15FPS rather than 30. Are you doing intense things like video editing or 3D modelling? If not, don't worry about it.
Also remember that the powersave mode limits the maximum throttle of the CPU. This helps preserve battery life by lowering everything that is sucking it up. So if you are concerned about performance, while in powersaver mode it will be much slower than normal. Will you notice? Maybe not. If you have a web browser open and you're reading something, underclocking the CPU will show no effect. But if you are trying to play an intensive game, it will.
For everyday tasks, the T2010 should be fine. To me, the slower ULV processor is a feature. I want less energy use, from all components, and the T2010s CPU is way more battery friendly than the T4220. It also has a LED backlight, which besides having less energy consumption, also produces a more naturally pleasant and whiter white than the CCFTs of the past.
Really you can't go wrong either way, but if you want a desktop replacement, mostly used plugged in and stationary, get the T4220. If you are more concerned with portability, and want the most energy efficient machine possible with a sacrifice on speed that most normal users will not even notice, get the T2010.
Newegg has the T4220 FPCM11063 (1.80GHz/1GB) for $1,594.99 and the Fujitsu Store has the T4220 FPCM11067 (2GHz/1GB) for $1,819 and the T2010 FPCM11124 for $1,599 plus a free Targus case.Last edited by Jamon; 09-07-2007 at 10:12 AM.

Re: T2010 users, please read. I got a question.
I have the 1.2 ghz model with 2GB RAM. I don't do any huge processor intensive graphic stuff. The only time I noticed any slowness--and then only very very minor was in power saver mode when there were automatic downloads and 3 programs open and then the delay was 5-10 seconds in opening another program. Power saver is definitely a bit slower.

Okay, so after reading all these comments, I finally went to a local shop and put down a deposit on the T2010
. I will be picking it up tomorrow, can't wait.
