I have posted in the forum before that I am a heavy user of PlanPlus for Outlook. It is my daily PIM transforming Outlook into a calendar-tasklist-project tracker. Email is the least functional feature in the ensemble. Nonetheless, it serves the day planner function well with calendar, tasks, and daily record all on one page.

PlanPlus for Outlook v7 is relatively crippled with Outlook 2010 and has been ever since Office 2010 was released. My discussions have centered around Franklin-Covey dropping the ball on the software design and maintenance but the status of the company shows that there may have been financial considerations in the lack of development.

Today I upgraded to Office 2013 and I was surprised to discover that Outlook 2013 and PlanPlus v7 function just as well with each other as Outlook 2010. There is one exception; when starting Outlook there is an error message that says that PlanPlus does not recognize the version of Outlook. Other than that it appears to be fully functional (at least as much as there is with 2010).

If I find any issues while I continue testing I will post it here.

I was interested in folks weighing in on Office 365. I have a family (myself, wife, and children) of six potential users of office (mostly word, excel, and outlook), along with a small business that includes another 5 contractors. I have not provided Office to my contractors in the past and over the years have accumulated a number of MS Office programs of various vintages (e.g. 2003, 2007, 2010) through my work to spread across all the family computers. Office 365 is basically a yearly subscription service and I was considering either purchasing Office 365 for home, $99.99/year (available for up to 5 computers) or Office 365 for small business, $150.00/yr (available for up to 25 users).

Has anyone checked this out? Sampled 365 in a trial version? Have strong opinions regarding purchasing the subscription versus the traditional 1 license into perpetuity?

See this video for a demonstration: Word pen bug - YouTube (http://youtu.be/6BtiFn7c78k)

Can anybody confirm that in Word 2010, small strokes disappear from the first page and appear on the second page? Can anybody confirm whether or not this is fixed in the new version?

Thanks!

Find it annoying that it takes a bunch of clicks to switch from Power Saver to High Performance? Now, I can do it almost instantly with this tiny program that sits in my Tray. I saved the .exe file to the Program Files folder, set it to start when booting the computer, and voila- I now can switch back and forth from my specialized versions of High Performance and Power Saver plans in a heartbeat. Nice!

Have fun. :)

I've been wanting something like this for a long while, when using the tablet pc as a tablet. Who wants to have to go into the Power Settings window just to make brightness lower or higher? Ugh. I set this up to boot at startup, and it's now always in my tray. Tap it and a brightness slider pops up. Voila. Change with the pen in a heartbeat. Yeah!! So simple, but so hard to find., 8D
Samsungs "Touch Supporter" gives me the STRG at least, but it's not customizable and doesn't have the other keys I need.
I have no use for a complete onscreen keyboard, it would take too much space while painting. I'd really need something like the previously mentioned application, but supporting custom keys. Didn't find anything googling around.

All help will be appreciated!
Thanks, Manu.

Hi all,

I don't know if this is going to have any traction here, but let's try!

A while ago, I discussed how I was disappointed when I bought my first tablet and saw that PowerPoint, which looks like it should be a perfect software for Tablet PC’s, is really not tablet friendly. That realization pushed me to explore different options on how to use PowerPoint on a Tablet PC, and I shared these thoughts here:
http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/ep12...tablet-pc.html
While at that time I was able to come up with a system that was ok, I wasn’t completely satisfied with it so I kept on searching.

In the meantime, I started to learn how to program a bit, and I’ve eventually come up with a toolbar for PowerPoint that is now completely satisfying for my needs. This toolbar allows me to use PowerPoint in a way more efficient manner on my tablet. Among many functions, it allows me during a presentation to quickly switch between pens of different colors, or to add new slides during a presentation, to switch touch on/off. It also has handy shortcuts to Windows functions that are often used for presentations (Connect to projector, Volume adjustment, etc.)

I’ve been using the current version for a while now and can safely say that I can’t use PowerPoint on my tablet without this toolbar anymore!

Before I “officially” release the toolbar, I’m looking for a few who would be willing to beta-test this “unofficial” version and share their comments/suggestions and to report bugs. I’ve only tested it with PowerPoint 2010 on Win 7 64 bit, so at the moment I can’t guarantee that it will work on any other system. While it seems to work perfectly on the three computers on which I've used it, the whole idea of beta-testing is that there may still be some bugs! I'm especially curious to see if it works at all on different versions of PowerPoint and Windows.

Anyway, if you want to beta-test it or if you simply want to try it out, you can download it by following the link at the bottom of this post (I’ve uploaded it in a zip file on MediaFire.com). The zip file contains the installer for the toolbar and a pdf file with instructions and a few pictures. Just make sure to read the brief instructions in the pdf file in order to install the toolbar properly.

While there is not much discussion about PowerPoint on this forum, maybe this will be useful to other users here. In any case, I personally find it useful! Thanks in advance to anyone who is willing to share their comments and report bugs.

I know this isn't really the forte of these boards, but I thought I'd ask for help, as I frequent this space.

I've been getting occasional BSOD's on my x200t for the last month or so. I assumed it had something to do with the fact that I've recently started using a bluetooth dongle to tether my phone to my laptop. Now, I'm not so sure.

Today I rebooted, and started consistently getting a BSOD every time I started. I first tried removing the hardware itself- no go. Still BSOD. I then removed all the software related to the Bluetooth dongle (Rocketfish) and the ATT communication settings that I was using with it. No go-- still a problem. I then discovered that it was because of/or linked to Thinkpad Fan Control (TPFC) starting up. I took it off the Startup list in Smart mode, and voila, I can now use my laptop. However, I can't use TPFC anymore, which will crash my computer every time I start it. TPFC is practically essential IMO, because it makes my laptop almost truly silent.

The direct culprit seems to be the Tvicport64.sys driver, according to the info on the BSOD. I found it, but there seems to be no way to update it-- the common advice given. It's created by enTech, but it's now freeware, and was last updated in 2005. I am totally unclear why this driver is linked to TPFC. I am also totally unclear why my computer is crashing and linked to TPFC and yet I can find absolutely no other posts on the internet about this phenomenon.... and there A LOT of TPFC users out there. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I set up my Recovery Settings to make a minidump file, but when I go there after crashing, there's nothing there for me to go over. I'm sort of at a loss. I've removed all known new hardware and software, and it's still crashing. I've tried to update the driver that's listed, but I can't. I've turned off TPFC, and I'm fine, but I want to use that program. And no one else in the history of the internet seems to be experiencing this same problem....??? So it seems like I should actually be able to use TPFC, and the link is really just a symptom of the problem, not the true problem.
