We have to Latitude 10's with the HSPA+ interface. Drivers all up-to-date. Both devices have a strange problem with their 3G connections. Some investigation with netsh.exe and a few rounds of SIM re-provisioning with the carrier have not resolved the problem. I'm wondering if anyone else out there has the same problem. Brief description of the issue:

3G connects and works just fine after boot up.
After a while (where a while is on the order of an hour), connectivity no longer works. However the 3G interface (confirmed by netsh) thinks it is still connected to the network. But there is no IP connectivity (pinging the DNS servers or the default router gives no route to host).

Here's the interesting thing : if you turn off the 3G interface (in the Metro control panel wireless page), then turn it back on, hey presto you have connectivity again (for another hour or so). The same result can be achieved by putting the device into flight mode for a few seconds. Perhaps significant : after restoring connectivity the device always has a different IP address than it had before.

Current working theory is that there's something going wrong with 3G "autoconfig" (this is the equivalent to DHCP for 3G connections, I guess) so that when the carrier network asks the interface to take a new IP address, it doesn't do so. Simple random flailing such as re-starting the autoconfiguration service has not proved useful.

Any ideas/thoughts would be appreciated.

Dell Latitude ST in Iron Man 3!!! SPOILER WARNING

Did anyone else notice that Happy uses a Dell Latitude ST to video-chat with Tony Stark in Iron Man 3? It is during the scene when the Mandarin stops by Stark Tower to visit Pepper. The Dell logo is blanked out on the back, but it is definitely the Latitude ST.

Since this forum seems to be the best place for this type of expertise, I wonder if anyone has any thoughts on the upgrade path for some of the Dell XPS 18 components -- specifically the mSATA and laptop hard drive.

Before I sent it back for exchange, I did get a chance to pop the back panel off and look inside.

The system seems to use a 32GB mSATA drive as either the boot drive or some type of cache drive. I happened to have a Crucial m4 256GB mSATA sitting around but when I swapped it in the system did not recognize it. Anyone know if there would be some type of workaround to get this to be my boot and system drive?

The 500GB 2.5" drive looked easy enough to get to. I wonder if anyone thinks there would be similar upgrade issue if I wanted to pop this drive into it as my secondary drive.

I used to know my way around the BIOS configuration but I get the feeling that this fancy new technology has passed me by. The BIOS uses some kind of "smart boot" secured boot options that I couldn't seem to configure.

Anyone have any thoughts on the upgradeability of the XPS 18?

Here's my review and I posted customer images on the product page for people to check out:
Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Manvex Slim and Compact Leather Folio Case Cover for the Microsoft Surface PRO Tablet with Windows 8 | Built-in Stand with Multiple Viewing Angles with Stylus Holder - Also compatible with the Type Cover and Touch Cover

Hope it helps other people looking for a sleeker alternative. I'm pretty annoyed with Dell for not giving me a 2-cell and being unwilling to sell me one, let alone admit a 2-cell battery exists. The Griffin Survivor case is disgustingly bulky and ugly.
