Using Microsoft Office 365 on VivoTab Smart ME400C - sometimes painfully slow

I've had the ME400C for about a month. Overall, I like it. I started by going to the desktop for many things, but now I am using the start screen and apps for lots of my needs. I use it for email, word processing, websurfing...

Issue: I just installed Office 365 on my main home pc. It works well on the home pc. I installed in on the VivoTab Smart and it sometimes runs very slow. I am using MSWord 2013 in the Office 365.

I am not sure, but I think it may have something to do with the speed of the internet connection. I've had trouble with the slow MSWord while in public places where I don't know the speed of the connection. At home the connection is 25mbps over wifi at most times.

Either the VivoTab Smart can't handle Office 365 or there is something I'm doing wrong on the settings for Office 365.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

You can grab them here:

http://cdn.wacom.com/U/drivers/Table...uch_711-12.exe

Finally Wacom has released new drivers for TabletPcs, almost 7 months after the Tf810c launch but they are here! I wanted to test them before posting, but after 5 minutes with them I can tell that they seem to work great!

Wacom techs seem to have fixed the bugs of the beta version; palm rejection seems to work well with Sai at last, I have to try it more, but I finally can rest my palm over the canvas without accidentally picking color with the eyedropper o registering right clicks.

They also seem to have fixed the bug that made the "ripple" effect over the cursor when doing fast brushstrokes in Photoshop. I have tested the ultra old Photoshop 4.0 version but I suspect they will work equally well in the latest versions.

I'll continue to test them, I will edit this post if I find any bug.

Please wrote your experience using them, with these drivers I'm sure you will love using your Vivotab as an art device as much as I do, specially using Sai and a autohotkey toolbar like the one I posted in another thread.

http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/soft...i_toolbar.html

EDIT: I can confirm that the drivers work very well with Photoshop CS6, just take care not to use very complex brushes and to set the brush icon cursor to "precise", that improves the brushstroke speed on the Vivotab dramatically , but for art sessions I recommend using the older 4.0 or 5.5 versions or any other specific art program like Sai.

EDIT 2: Does anyone know if this driver release add support for Surface Pro owners? I suspect the answer is yes but I'm not sure.

EDIT 3: Unfortunately the aforementioned bugs in Sai still remain, that is, palm rejection doesn't work properly; when I rest my palm on the tablet it sometimes registers right clicks while I'm doing brushtrokes (and the pen tip is always close to the tablet surface, never leaving the "active" zone). That makes an unexpected color pick or switches to pan "hand mode"; that is very annoying, and so far It doesn't happen in Photoshop.

I recently tried to update the drivers of my ME400C, there is a package, ME400C_DriverPackage_1.00_Customer, but it seems to only contain outdated drivers.

The ME400CL_DriverPackage_2.00_Customer package contains newer drivers for the same devices.

Installing it by executing the ME400CL_DriverPackage_2.00_Customer.exe does nothing, it reboots the device after installing but all drivers installed on the device aren't getting touched.

So what I did was unpacking the exe file and run it throught the Intel SOC installer, but all I get was a "unexpected error"

I had success installing the display driver only seperately and updated it from 9.14.3.1099 to 9.14.3.1117.

but there are many more driver updates for camera, audio and also processor drivers.
I'm really insecure about installing them manually, especially the processor drivers and I'm scared to mess things up that I end up reformatting the device.

So is anyone aware if there is a working update package for the ME400C ?

Also, I think there is a way to install this package by changing some registry entries, but I'm not quite sure if that is gonna work properly.

Hello there,

after having get rid of the annoying "tap to click" feature (thanks again!), there's one major issue remaining for me:

Intel's poor driver support for the PowerVR SGX 545 (SoC / Intel GMA of the Intel Atom Z2760 CPU).

The driver does feature scaling options (similar to Intel HD 4000 eg), however they are - for unknown reasons - not working (with Windows 8 at least).

If I run a program in a low resolution, eg 640x480, it does keep its aspect ratio (which is GOOD!) but it does not resize to fit to the screen, it just keeps at the center of the screen - which is horrible as it is way too small.

I would really appreciate it if anyone knows/finds out how to fix this since Intel actually supports this feature (like nVidia and AMD do as well).

My driver for the Intel GMA is 9.14.3.1117 (from 15th December 2012).
If someone could tell me how to install a newer (correctly working) version - without installing OEM crap like HP's lastest driver does, unfortunately (it kills the sound on the Asus device by also installing a different Realtek audio driver with an annoying sound manager which could only be removed with TuneUp Utilities), I would also be very thankful.

So 5 months in and this thing is still trying my patience

Latest problem is about 4 weeks ago it started to not wake up from sleep if I closed the lid without shutting down and left it overnight. No problems with battery use etc as others have had, just in the morning would open the lid and nothing, nada, no way could I get the screen to come to life.

Ended up having to do a forced shutdown (power key held down for 5 secs) and then restart and all is fine.

The problem has been getting worse though so I did a refresh (PITA as I have a lot of programs/data installed:()
Installed the latest driver package manually just in case (Asus LiveUpdate never has worked for me), but its no better.

In fact the problem is getting worse now, if the machine goes to sleep even for an hour now it wont come back to life - have to do a hard reset.

Getting really fed up and considering stopping using it as my day to day machine as it is so unreliable :(

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

One of the things the Lenovo Thinkpads have refined over the years is the friction between nib and screen. The VivoTab is like the old Motions in that it's like writing on glass. Those too improved over time, but my impression of both the Lenovos and Motions is that it was more a function of altering the surface of the screen than changing the nib (IIRC, those little plastic nibs have never changed).

The question for you guys is whether there's a Wacom pen with a nib that has a little more drag. Maybe with some rubber on it? I used an S Pen once, and it seems like it was covered in rubber, but I don't know for sure (and, of course, those pens wouldn't work with a Wacom digitizer).

Thoughts?

Hi,
It is nice but not as high quality as Shield, that I had for iPad in the past.

Because of cover I will be using more tablet itself (I can now put it away safely with no worries about scratches) and tablet + dock only 2 days per week (weekend away from office).

What is better - to charge dock to full and put it in the drawer? After 2 days of use... should I recharge it to put it away? Or put it away discharged and charge it only before weekend use...
Any advice?

Picked up a new TF810c yesterday. First applied Asus Liveupdate, with no problems. Then, set about installing windows updates. Windows updates downloaded to 70%, then stopped. Finally cancelled download.

Now, I've tried to change my workgroup and reboot. Asus has been on "Preparing to configure Windows Do not turn off your computer" for about 25 minutes now, with the Win 8 progress circle being drawn over and over. Is this a normal delay? I'm used to Windows Updates showing "Applying 1 of x updates", rather than just sitting at this message. Any suggestions?
