I did a bit of searching about this and not much luck (maybe I'm just THAT inept). Anyway, I've got an X220t running Win 7 and would really like to have some sort of HW scroll functionality in tablet mode. I visit a few sites which run scripts (The Verge for one) that interfere with touch functions in FF. Yeah, could run NpScript, but that becomes problematic on other sites and makes browsing a pain with permissions 'n such.
So, has anyone successfully implemented a FP-reader scroll function on the X220t? ..Willy.

i found a way to change sd drive to fixed drive. it worked perfectly with metro app, such as music, video, photo, ... when these folders are moved to sd card.

i tested with tpt2. other tablets do NOT install directly.

1. confirm you have the same sd card reader type with me. open device management, and check the device type of the reader is ' SD\DISK&VID_1b&OID_534d&PID_00000&REV_1.0' (you can find the string in 'event' tab).if not, do NOT continue.

2. backup the data, and if you moved "my music", "my video"... to sd card , restore them.

3. disable the ‘digital signature driver’: run 'cmd' as administrator, type 'bcdedit -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS' then press enter.

4. reboot to uefi bios, disable the 'secure boot'

5. manually update the driver of sd card reader using the attachment.

note: strictly follow the instructions above, or the system maybe crash; do not shutdown by force. it may take a little long time when updating driver and rebooting.

Am I right in thinking that apart from battery life, this would be pretty much similar to the Helix, only a lot cheaper?
Or am I missing/forgetting something blindingly obvious that should make me re-think getting an X230?

It seems too good to be true, and am waiting to realise what the down side is going to be. But I can't think of any! (I'm not fussed about battery life)

The only other thing I can think of is Lenovo UK site sell it with Windows 7, not 8. But I can always upgrade that at a later date.

Thanks for any input!

Hi All,

I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue with their Thinkpad Tablet 2:

Starting a month or two ago, without fail, whenever I reboot the tablet, it hangs up on the Lenovo boot screen with the camera light on. It displays the Lenovo logo, but never the spinning icon indicating Windows is loading.

I then need to hard power off (holding in the power button) and attempt to boot again. From there, it always works. I have the latest updates installed, including the latest bios.

I plan to touch base with Lenovo, but I'm curious if anyone else has seen this and know what may be the culprit.

Thanks for any feedback!

Hello all,

So I've purchased (although not yet received) a new Helix from Provantage. I chose the i7/8GB/256GB version because I fall into the "more RAM is more macho" camp. heh

The Helix will primarily be used for the office and it's a great device for that. However, I have an ASUS Zenbook UX51VZ at home. I upgraded it to 12GB RAM, in fact, and it's blazing fast. But I was wondering if the Helix could compete with it. Here's a brief comparison:

Zenbook

Helix

Core

i7-3612QM Quad core

i7-3667U Dual core

Clock speed

2.1 GHz (3.1GHz Turbo)

2.0 GHz (3.2GHz Turbo)

CPU wattage

35 Watts

17 watts (9 watts undocked)

RAM

12GB DDR3-1600 MHz

8GB DDR3L-1333 MHz

Storage

Dual Sandisk SSD drives (128GB + 128GB)

Single 256GB SSD (unknown mfg)

Graphics

NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 2GB + Intel HD Graphics 4000

Intel HD Graphics 4000

The Zenbook beats it in almost all performance areas, but I'm not sure I'll notice the difference. I have a Surface Pro right now and it chokes up on graphics-heavy webpages and doesn't do well while I'm running a memory hungry Citrix client. I'm returning the Surface Pro for the Helix for this reason alone. But the Surface Pro ain't no Helix. The i7/8GB trumps i5/4GB.

I'm not sure if the power consumption difference is because the Zenbook is a quad core or not. The dedicated graphics card in the Zenbook is not important to me since I don't render video and am not into gaming. Photoshop quite a bit, but that's all. I purchased a Plugable USB Dock so I'll be able to have a fullsize monitor/keyboard when I need it.

Anyone want to speculate on how the Helix will compete with the Zenbook?

Hi all,

I am looking into getting an X230 tablet, and would love to have an SSD. However, the prices from Lenovo are absurdly high, so I was planning to buy one separately. I'm hoping on a few pieces of advice.

1. Are there any specifications that are critical or especially important? For example, certain sizes that are incompatible with the X230?

2. How does this affect my Lenovo warranty? Obviously the SSD itself wouldn't be covered, but by installing it do I void my warranty on the rest of the laptop? For example, if my motherboard dies, would I still be able to send the laptop to Lenovo service for repairs? Would I need to swap out the new SSD and replace the original HD before sending it in? Anything in particular I should do to make sure I can still get warranty service?

3. Any recommendations on good, reasonably affordable SSDs (i.e. neither low-end nor absolute top-end needed)?

Thanks,

Wacoms just released a new Tablet PC Driver today. Someone's already confirmed in the Microsoft Forum that the driver does indeed work on the Surface Pro. Anyone care to try it on the Thinkpad Tablet 2 or Thinkpad Helix?

TABLET PC – Enhanced Tablet Driver 7.1.1-12

Expand the capabilities of your tablet computer with the enhanced tablet driver for systems that use Wacom Feel IT® technology! Installing this driver will provide many advanced pressure-sensitive features that Wacom pen tablet users have come to enjoy. The driver supports advanced features such as pressure-sensitivity in graphics applications such as Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter. It also allows you to adjust the pen tip pressure sensitivity and to program the side switch of the pen for a wide range of alternative settings and functions.

This driver should be installed on tablets that have Wacom feel IT technologies or Wacom Pen based technologies. This driver will also support older Penabled Tablet PCs running Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP Tablet Edition.

Click on the Download link and save the file to your computer. If you are upgrading from a previous Wacom driver version, uninstall that driver first for best results. Restart the system prior to installing the new driver.
If prompted, restart the system by clicking the Ok button.

Seems like I've been waiting forever to get my hands on a Helix. Reading how Lenovo CSR's are saying that it may come out to the general public in August (mostly rumors) and it's got me thinking. I'm really looking to play WOW on this tablet when I travel. I don't expect the best graphics, but playable. I will mostly be using the tablet for Office, OneNote (important), and media playback. Today this article came out on Engadget and I'm really considering waiting. The new chip seems to have some impressive graphic improvements. I know it's a bit early but does anybody have a clue if/when the Helix may be refreshed with the new chip? Would you wait?

I know the argument "it will always be better in the future", but I'd hate to get this laptop in August and in September the HD5000 comes out. I'd be really really upset.

Managed to get six rows in portrait mode (& even 7); but three rows in landscape just sucks

Tried the following but having trouble implementing it http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2086240 - Any ideas?

Look forward to your replies

CD (UK)

Edit: Managed to work it out - Looks far better with four rows - and less scrolling too :)

One question I have is on Bluetooth and battery usage. If the tablet goes into sleep mode (unconnected) and Bluetooth is on, does it drain faster than if I turn Bluetooth off before putting it to sleep? I haven't had an opportunity to test this yet.
What kind of battery life are you guys getting while the tablet is asleep? In general...

Thanks,

Does the Kensington Universal BT Keyboard folio a good partner for TPT2? How easy is it to remove the tablet from the case and also does it cover the ports? Can you use the tablet+keyboard together while lying on the couch/bed? Viewing angles OK?

Amazes me how Lenovo screwed the keyboard folio part : (

Thanks in advance for your answers!
