    Default Bios access

    Hi everyone

Do you have any troubles to access bios/boot menu or am I the only one ? the DEL/ESC with usb keyboard doesn't work all the time, it's random.

I have read somewhere that if it dosn't work, it's because Windows didn't shunt down correctly...

My problem is I bought a new SSD, so there is no data on it. And I can't get access to bios or boot menu, it doesn't work at all.

Is it a special trick that a can do to have these acces ?

    Thank you

I already tried but that's not working. the only thing that's working 100% times is the F4 key for the Bios Flash utility...

I'm curious about this... Asus uses either F1 or F2? The key used for BIOS access is usually consistent among all devices of the same model, right? Maybe pjpjpj is hitting F2 at the wrong time. Or, perhaps, his keyboard is faulty. Or the USB port isn't recognizing his keyboard in time to accept the input.

I can't see some EP121 units shipping with F2, but others with F1...

My keyboard is working, I'm sure about that. I resolved the problem with these steps :
    -put back my old SSD,
    -booted into windows,
    -restart,
    -enter bios (with no problem),
-set my USB key with Windows installer as first boot device,
    -shut down computer from bios,
    -replacing the SSD,
    -booted.

So, apperently it's true : we can't get acces to bios if windows was not correctly shut down. That's strange...

That's not true. At any rate by default if you have a bootable USB drive plugged in it will boot from that before the SSD without BIOS changes. I know I just did this procedure. I also accessed the BIOS but you have to be really quick (I had to make several attempts). There was not anything I wanted to change in the BIOS anyway that I could see.

To install a new OS or to restore just follow the procedure I used when I upgraded my SSD (it in the 'stickied' SSD Upgrade guide).

I agree, it seems completly illogical but, when I tried with the empty new SSD, I really couln't get acces to bios or boot menu. I tried dozens times with no luck. I put back the old SSD, and from the first time I could enter the bios. I had a bootable usb stick pluged-in, and every times, the tablet tried to boot the SSD.
