    Default 'Windows Experience'

What are your others getting for 'Windows Experience'

I was already to roll back the 'Intel Graphics' drivers from January 10, 2012 because the rating kept coming back as 2.2. By far the worst rating and even worse than an old Radeon 2400HD from 2006 I have in my old PC.

My EP121's ratings (stock except new SSD, BIOS stock 603):
AC Power: 'Microsoft Signature Power Plan' (seems to be ~ 'Balanced')
    Processor : 3.0
    Memory(RAM) : 4.6
    Graphics : 3.3
    Gaming Graphics : 4.6
    Primary Hard Disk: 7.7

    AC Power: 'High Performance'
    Processor : 3.1
    Memory(RAM) : 4.6
    Graphics : 3.3
    Gaming Graphics : 4.8
    Primary Hard Disk: 7.7

I ran these tests several times consectutively to see if there was any variance because at one time I have higher scores on the CPU (I think I am not sure) and the Graphics.

Every score remained the same (or very close) after 4 tests each Plan except the Graphics went from 2.2 to 3.3.

The high SSD speed (from between 7.4 - 7.6 I think, to 7.7) is because of the new SSD I have.

Now you'd thing, on 'High Performance' and AC Power I'd get numbers at least comparable to a 5 year old PC.

Now I have a 5, almost 6 year old PC and you can be sure the components are 6 years or older that outdoes this 1 year old state of the art PC.

Now how is that? I can only be because the CPU and Graphics chips are being throttled although I have the PC on AC power.

The 5 year old PC (Intel Core 2 CPU 4GB RAM6400 @ 2.14GHz) numbers I built (completely cheapest components I could find) in 2006 with these ratings:

    Processor : 5.3
    Memory(RAM) : 5.3
    Graphics : 5.6
    Gaming Graphics : 6.2
    Primary Hard Disk: 5.9

Both are running Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

So what are you others getting for Windows Experience numbers?

I checked the processors (and many other) drivers and noticed for the first time they are Windows Vista RTM drivers finalized way back before Vista was even released.

So Intel CPUs and chipsets have improved this much over the years but the drivers being used on the EP121 are still Windows Vista from 06/06/21?

Are there any 'GHz / Throttle' controllers for the EP121/Intel chipset?

Seems silly to have to resort to a hacked BIOS to try and boast performance.

If you went one page back in the EP121 threads you would have found this [BIOS] EP121AS 501 [Modding Thread] basically the ASUS supplied BIOS has an extreme under clocking 'feature' at nominal temperatures; the Modded BIOS simply removes that poor 'feature' so it can run at full speeds most of the time (it will still down clock at high temps and it has the thermal safeties still intact for extreme temperatures), it will increase heat output ever so slightly, but the gained power from it should be well worth it... NOTE: installing even a OEM BIOS has a bit of risk involved to it, so it is a decision that is ultimatly up to you, in addition you should back-up any and all data you would not want to lose before attempting it.
    Current: HP 2730p Win 7 & Linux Mint | Toshiba M4 | Motion M1400 renice 120GB SSD | ITRONIX IX-325 | Motion F5 (U7500 update) | Fujitsu P1620 | T4220 w/SXGA+ 160GB Intel X18-M & 1TB HDD in bay | broken TC4400 [for experimentation] | i5 3570K mITX desktop w/GTX460 | ASUS N10j

I asked about alot more than installing a hacked BIOS and I've read that thread already.

If my previous post makes you unhappy I suggest you don't read it.

I've already upgraded to ASUS 603 and while I've read enough about the hacked BIOS to know the guy hacking it knows what he is doing I'm not going to use that BIOS.

I just read about 'ThrottleStop' which I'll try out to monitor my PC. I suspect when I use the PC with apps such as Blender and other such apps the boost while be as appropriate and ThrottleStop logs should show that.

Because you were promoting your own sale with a link to your ebay listing... kamikaze458 was posting a link to an ebay sale for an EP121 being sold as parts in an attempt to help others and not benefit himself... no further discussion on this topic, and unless expressly said by me or another mod you are barred from selling or promoting sales on the forum for your pestering me and others with your sales or about what they are posting, NO arguing, its not going to help your standing, I will simply delete any-such-posts from here on.

On-Topic: I wasn't unhappy at all, sorry if I came across as such, I simply wanted you to read into the backlog of posts before posting as most questions are already answered (in terms of WEI score, simply doing a google search or using the site search will bring this and others up My EP121 WEI score history: )

Well I've reported the EP121 being sold as stolen in the referred thread to EBay and TabletPCReview.

If they don't take action I will report it to the police in the relevant jurisdictions.

You'd have to file that serial number off the edge of that PC for it not to be there.
