Silencing My EP121's Very Noisy Fans
Just got my EP121 today, and dual fans are on full blast all the time. Very loud, very annoying, like tiny hair dryers running.
I have not seen a single option in Asus's utilities. BIOS is up to date at v401.
The BIOS has pretty much no options whatsoever. Worst BIOS ever.
I can't believe these fans are supposed to run like this, wasn't like that at all at CES. They're so loud they're noticable in a loud ambient noise environment.
Complete deal killer if I can't fix these fans. I will not be keeping the EP121 with fans running full blast like that.

Re: Silencing the EP121's very Noisy Fans
Just so you guys are aware, Edwood has hyper sensitive hearing!
But having said that, it doesn't sound right that the fan is always on. No one so far has complained about that...
Edwood has been suffering from bad luck with his electronics lately so I don't know if it suppose to run full speed all the time and no one really is bothered by it or Edwood needs to send his back.
Anyone who has one wants to chime in and help us out? Mine is shipping tonight, so I won't have it for few days yet.

It's not just my sensitive hearing, you can clearly feel the air being blown out the top vents. At CES, I put my ear right up to the vents and couldn't really hear or feel anything at all.
I'm browsing through the other drivers, hopefully I missed something.

Haven't had time for a clean install yet. I'll try that one later.

Re: Silencing the EP121's very Noisy Fans
I never noticed the fans when I ran the factory install for a few hours and definately not since I've been running Ultimate x64. The fan noise is on par with my tm2 and that's by holding the both units right up to my ear. And the tm2 is NO WHERE near loud, that's pretty much a fact.

Re: Silencing the EP121's very Noisy Fans
The only time my fans are at full blast is when I have my my folio on and I am in a heated office or home. In which case I remove my slate from the folio and try to keep my bottom vents clear of any obstructions.

So you see different fan speeds? Curious, I seem to only have one speed, they never seem to fluctuate for me.

Re: Silencing the EP121's very Noisy Fans
Must be a hardware problem. When I turn it on, the fans are not on. Then after a minute they spin up full blast. Happens regardless of whether I'm in the BIOS, running Memtest86+, or just in Windows.
Just my luck, I get a POS EP121 from the get go.
