Default touch screen bug

My latitude XT seems to have a buggy touch screen. It works sometimes...I can be dragging my finger around and all of a sudden it just freezes up. The screen also detects multiple points of contact when I'm using just one finger (multi-touch kicks in with only 1 finger).

This is VERY annoying. Has anyone encountered this problem before?
