The overall noise level of the XT is very low - (Of the 4 laptops in the house it's probably the lowest) but I find the high frequency pitch a little bit distratching in a very quiet room. In fact I perfer the higher noise level but lower pitch of the Fujitsu ST5020 ! ( You can't please some people )

It sound like it might be from the hard drive but I'm not sure.

Any one got a low level but high pitched whinning noise from their XT?
