Customize hardware button or fingerprint reader
First of all: Hello! I'm a new lucky owner of a tablet ASUS R1E.
I'm Italian (Rome) and I love technology and hi-tech in general.
Second: pardon for my BAD english. I hope to make me understood
Now the question: is it possible to customize harware buttons or fingerprint reader to emulate "page up" and "page down" (or other keyboard shortcut) buttons??
I read some past threads and someone said that it's possible to make the fingerprint reader able to scroll down pages like "page down" command, configuring Asus Security Protect Manager (downloading last driver version of FP reader) but I didn't find any information about how to..
It would be a great feature because, reading long PDF documents, browsing image albums with ACDSee, it's not a good thing operate always with the Wacom pen in one hand.. and R1E has not a touch screen (like Lenovo X61T.. sob
)
Thanks a lot!!!!
Bye
Alex

Re: Customize hardware button or fingerprint reader
Little late to answer your question, but here goes if someone is interested.
I did some digging with linux and it seems that the Esc button on the screen is connected to the keyboard Esc button. Similarly Ctrl+Alt+Del button seems to be hardwired to give simultaneous Ctrl, Alt and Del button presses. As far as I know it is not possible to programmatically change them, since the operating system can't distinguish between keyboard buttons and screen side buttons.
I have no idea if the screen rotation button can be programmed to do something else. It doesn't give off any key code (as far as Ubuntu can tell), so it's probably practically impossible to change what it does in Windows. Would be nice to get it to work in other systems though.
It's too bad that the buttons cant be customized. Esc is practically useless and Crtl+Alt+Del is only ever needed anymore in work environment where you can trust your co-workers not to steal your laptop, but cant trust them enough to leave your laptop unlocked.

Re: Customize hardware button or fingerprint reader
