Using Vista also required changing over from Photoshop 3 Elements to 5, which adds a few more things to get used to. There were a few places where I thought the pen wasn't registering properly, but on second glance it was just the new photoshop being picky about how long I held the pen on the screen.

As far as the computer itself goes, I'm jonesing for a bigger screen just a little. My last tablet was a 14" and this one is 14", but it's a different 14 inches. The regular aspect ratio on my old tablet came out to 95 square inches, this widescreen 14 inches is only 87. I can feel the crampedness a little. On the other hand, screen resolution actually went up a little, so I'm getting more detail per square inch, which is nice.

Overall, I think I'm going to be pretty happy with this.
If you think Gateway's 14" tablet is cramped, you'd be pretty mad with pretty much every other tablet on the market, given their 12.1 inch size.

    I'm a little concerned about the shape too (7.5 x 12 usable). I would prefer 8.5 x 11.

I am frustrated beyond belief, and I've enjoyed yelling at both customer service and my original rep. This is ridiculous, given the fact that the turnaround time is now over a month, and that people who ordered after me have gotten theirs already.

To add on top of that, my rep says he can't discount me because of the contract my school has with Gateway, and that he can't upgrade my shipping because doing it so close to the shipping date would put a hold on my order.

If there was another 14" tablet with dedicated graphics, I'd have cancelled long ago.

I hear you, man. I ordered on 7/2 and went from an EAD of 7/25 to 8/14. I don't even know when mine's going to ship. I've yet to make my daily Gateway phone call (I'll do it on my lunch break).

So how do I calibrate pen?

The online user manual says to open the Windows Mobility Center and select "Change Tablet PC Settings." Well, I opened it up and there is no "Change Tablet PC Settings."

Hi all! I've been watching this for a while, speed reading it when I get the chance. I've got some tidbits that I've come across while looking into and purchasing my still-processing C-140x.

Gateway has some very nice, detailed spec pages on their support page for the C-140x, as well as a basic owners manual and some part lists/spec sheets. They're available here: http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/...14418Rnv.shtml

One of the things you might notice is that TPM 1.2 is featured on the home model, C-140x. I confirmed this with my sales rep, who had to talk with a higher-up to find out that it's not published on the ordering page because it would "confuse too many customers". My rep is Bryant, btw - good guy, has investigated and answered all of my in-depth questions quite well.

Also, you may notice that the HDD is listed as SATA 33/66/100. This doesn't make any sense, as those are PATA speeds; the Intel mobo spec sheet declares that there are both SATA and PATA connections on the mobo, so I suspect a clueless marketing guy screwed that one up. I'm waiting to hear back from Bryant re: if both connections are available from the HDD bay, but I wouldn't mind hearing from one of the more tech-savvy current C-140x owners to be sure.

I ordered 7/16 w/ an EAD of 7/25; on 7/23, I received the standard email that my order had been delayed until 8/14. I found much comfort from everyone griping here about the same problem, and hearing some reports of them getting out on time anyways. Thanks for that, and I look forward to reading continued posts.

Ahh, I forgot to mention my upgrades. I got the 2x2GB Patriot memory from Newegg that a few others got, and a Hitachi Travelstar 7K200 200GB. I look forward to the bulk data encryption on the Travelstar and the other security goodies on this tablet.

Just made my daily call to Gateway. My machine is in the "final stages of QC" and the rep "wouldn't be surprised if it shipped out tomorrow."

    It's about freakin' time.

Google, and ye shall find. http://www.google.com/search?q=calib...&oe=utf-8&aq=t
    Pen calibration isn't model or brand-specific feature; it's OS-specific.

From the Windows Vista default Start menu, tap or click Control Panel.
In the Control Panel window, click Hardware and Sound.
In the Control Panel Hardware and Sound window, in the Tablet PC Settings area, click Calibrate the screen.
In the Tablet PC Settings dialog box, click Calibrate.
Follow the on screen instructions to calibrate the pen.
In the Digitizer Calibration Test dialog box, click OK.
