Clean install with upgraded SSD?
I just bought the my digital 128GB SSD and was planning on cloning the existing drive. Unfortunately the msata to Sata adapter I bought does not fit the new my digital drive. I have no idea why. So I think I'm giving up on cloning and will start fresh because I don't want to wait for a replacement. My questions are:
Do I need to format the new drive with Acer partitions in order to use the recovery disks? *If so, I have an Acer partition disk that I used with my Aspire One netbooks that puts the Acer partitions on and allows you to load with the restore disks. Does anyone know if all Acer partitions are the same and if this will work?
If not, could I *just use another Win 7 Home Premium disk that I have. *Would I just be able to use that on the new SSD? *If so, would I be able to recover all of the divers and software I need?
Thanks in advance, and I hope this make sense. *I was writing this while dealing with a cranky 3 year old. Obviously I will wait until she is asleep to begin cracking the case open.*

Re: Clean install with upgraded SSD?
I'm a relatively new owner , so I can't answer most of your questions!
However , I'd always go with a new install if at all possible .. go with a new Win 7 and see what happens!!

Re: Clean install with upgraded SSD?
you could clone to any other HD using standard USB-SATA adapter and then install new drive and clone back from HD. It's two steps, but it works.

Re: Clean install with upgraded SSD?
Thanks for the responses. I went ahead and just made an image using win 7 image creator and saved the image to an external HD, then made a system recovery disk with my USB CD drive. I figured once I had the tablet open I'd give it a shot. I could always throw the oringinal SSD back in it. As far as I can tell, it all worked flawlessly. I was able to resize the disk with disk manager and now I've just created a 20 GB partition to load Windows 8 on. Fingers crossed that I don't hit any boot issues. The downside is that if I like Win 8, I'll be "forced" to buy that cool new $80 case in the accessories thread.
Thanks again for the suggestions.
