Default How to Automatically Display Virtual Keyboard

I'm a little frustrated with the virtual keyboard. it doesn't seem to display efficiently. Does anyone know how to set it to open whenever the cursor is in a text field?

I believe it depends on the software. Internet Explorer and Windows Programs will/should always work.
Google Chrome does it when it wants.
Opera Browser does not automatically display the keyboard at all.

It just depends on the programmers bro.

I don't remember being like this on WinXP. MS borked something.

It's better on Windows 8. Wait a year.

I could have sworn at one point that if I tapped in the URL field of IE9, that the keyboard would pop-up, but it only pops up the intput panel, which you tap to bring up the keyboard or stylus input. I'd like to actually tap a text field and have the keyboard display automatically. Is there a setting that can be changed somewhere?

Try TIPPopper. skarv.net: Tablet software - TipPopper. Tablet PC software input keyboard handwriting touchscreen type How-to improve fix patch windows win wintab winpad ipad pad "pc tablet" "tablet input pc" "input panel" "tablet input panel" "pen input" "pen input

It automatically opens the keyboard whenever the keyboard icon would normally show. I've had ~80% success rate with this.

There's also a chrome extension that allows the keyboard to open from within webpages as well.

I originally used it to program a flick to open and close the keyboard, but I've disabled it for now. I find it faster to just tap the TIP toolbar icon.

I'm back to using Tippopper now. It's definitely the most convenient way to get to the keyboard while in a fullscreen application like Citrix.

It took me a bit under Windows 7 to realise that you can actually resize the Windows keyboard to make it more usable to your finger size,
