    Default Calling to W500 owners..

As the owners of the tablet, you may know the tablet got a non-upgradeable 2GB RAM in which a fixed amount of 384MB assigned to video card and only 1.6GB left available for OS/apps/etc.
I mostly use the tablet for web browsing, email, documents, but not much of games. So, I believe 128MB shared to GPU is efficient . Therefore, I'm asking any owner outthere in the same boat like me writing/asking Acer ( which I already did) to give us the option in BIOS to set the shared amount of RAM for GPU like 128/256/384 MB. With 200MB (~10%) more for OS it will help the tablet run faster a bit !

Sorry, but anything to help the display perform in a high quality and reliable manner I'm all for. I say give more ram to the GPU..

    ?

Why not using a high performance Sd Card or a low profile usb key as a dedicated readyboost device ?

as for example , if you dont use the W500 keyboard this type of usb key should be nice

Either my SD cards aren't good enough, or the W500 SD card controller can't support ReadyBoost. Can someone confirm they have an SD card working with ReadyBoost on the W500?

If the computer has an SSD which the Acer has, Readyboost is not supported as it will not offer any performance benefit. Readyboost is designed to move a part of the Pagefile to faster flash memory compared to a spinning disk. Since most SSDs are faster than the available Flash Memory Devices (USB or SD) Windows usually disables Readyboost.

I don't own a W500 so I'm not sure how fast the SSD is, but on my HP Slate and on my Toshiba Libretto Readyboost was disabled.

Tablet Legacy (I don't miss lugging around the convertibles):

    Samsung Series 7 Slate A04 * Toshiba Libretto W105 * HP Slate 500
Toshiba M200 (this should still be the standard that all large convertables should be held too)
Toshiba M400 * Fujitsu U810 (of all my old convertables this one holds a special place in my heart)
    Lenovo X61T * Lenovo X200T

It is an option when I right-click on the device in my computer, but the analysis says that they are not ReadyBoost eligible/compatible.

I guess we'll see if more people try this. However, the processor being the main bottleneck, anyway, I don't know what performance increases could be had based on yoru statement about SSDs. I guess I wouldn't mind moving some page files to an SD, though, as I'd rather wear one of those out first.

well i don't have a SD card , but i tested readyboost with a Patriot 8GB usb key and i was able to enable readyboost and it worked.

A readyboost SD card would be more practical.

If Windows allowed you to use Readyboost on a SSD equipped machine, Acer used a very slow SSD

I would agree, I bench marked my W500 with a few tools and saw speeds of 150 Read and 30 Write. The 255/170 rating of the Kingston SSD I'm looking seem promising for a nice speed improvement.
