weird power problem
hey, i have a gateway c-140xl laptop, and have had it for almost two years.
for some reason the laptop shuts down after a few seconds if its not connected with the power cable. i know the battery is old, but it still holds a charge so the battery is not dead. if i turn on my laptop without the cable, the fans start, the gateway screen comes on, then the laptop just turns off. and no matter how many times i try to turn it on again, it wont fully boot.
the same thing happens if i unplug the laptop for a few seconds, it just shuts down.
any suggestions at all, obviously the warranty is up, and i have a feeling if i take it to best buy or somewhere they will just charge me 200 dollars for information i allready knew

Re: weird power problem
Sounds like a fault somewhere in the "power regulation" part of the mother board (I really don't know what its called). Chances are you'll need a new motherboard. Try looking at MPC and getting a replacement MB for your convertible. Good Luck!
