As far as I know the thing about the UP number only applies to pens bought from Wacom, it helps to discern which won't work (like Intuous pens). But I can confirm that the Axiotron Studio Pen works with Wacom penabled tabletPCs - and I find it much better than the pen that came with my tabletPC.

+1 on the Axiotron. Works like a dream...much better than the OEM pen and around the same price.

I have A4 Intuos and 12" tablet PC, but I don’t think this is important.

May be it's not possible to compare tablet PC digitizer with intuos directly, because on tablet PC I see directly the distance (lag) between physical position of pen and position of cursor. However I really feel that response of tablet PC pen is much slower than response of intuos.

But, may be it can be because of operation system, maybe the Tablet PC is just slow because of Win7 and intuos on my desktop is much faster, because of WinXP. But I don't believe that the difference would be such big.

Try sketchbook Pro on a Tablet PC and tell me if it feels laggy. There is no lag in hardware. Only certain software.

I also have an Intuous and a 12" TabletPC, and there is no difference in the speed, neither on XP nor on Windows 7. The only time I get a slow response is when I have too many layers in Photoshop - but that has nothing to do with which pen input system I am using.
